Can we all agree we've just wasted our time by simply opening article 253202 ?

This confuses me. Is this just some journalist deciding how much each player is worth?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He called Ozil a bargain. So while I think he was well worth his money calling him a bargain at the this stage is just wrong.
I don't get it. A website puts their value on a squad and were all supposed to accept their valuations?
-=-=-=-=-
EXACTLY!
It's ALL open to interpretation and preference.
I guess (correct me if I'm wrong?) the OP is maybe getting at the point that in terms of money spent (on players), certainly compared to the club's immediate "rivals", that the club has/is punching well above its weight. In that respect, few people would/could disagree that this IS very much the case.
But taking ANY website, pundit, sports journo etc take on this kind of fodder as gospel is all fairly futile.
(This isn't a dig at the OP by the way).
this article is a failure i tells ya, a failure!
I'm not sure I get the point to be honest. Disregarding this season, United and City (and Chelsea before that) have finished above you, your finishes in the PL have more or less correlated with your squad value over the last ten years.
The year of the invincibles Wenger massively overachieved as you had the fourth most expensive squad and won against a United team with Ferguson at the helm. This season, you are up against three teams all with new managers.
If you do win the title, it will be a very good achievement. You haven't won it yet though and historically have finished where you should do.
This article and its source article are like multiple botched abortions and a beige wall that goes on forever.
It's the squad value in terms of how much the playing staff cost to assemble isn't it? The figures are a bit off for me either way and can't be fully known in a lot of circumstances, but I don't think it is someone guessing the players value now as such.
When dunc is saying things like that you know you've made a balls up.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
They use the accounts from 2012/13 then guess how much the squads for the 2013/14 season are getting paid.
How does that work?

Of your current crop, isn't it only Wilshere, Gibbs and Ramsey who came through the ranks?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Sir Chesney also
If you click on Arsenal it still lists Gervinho, Frimpong and Chamakh as players on the books at Arsenal.
That should tell you all you need to know about the accuracy of this article

i dont know whether i should be offended by that
Let me get this right, City were paying Negredo, Jovetic and Navas a salary 12 months before they signed for the club but were paying Tevez and Balotelli nothing?
Football accountancy is very complex.

Boris, I guess this is the 'creative accounting' all of the amateur accountants on this website know of. That's one hell of a way to dodge FFP by simply not paying people who play for you now.
Maybe you could just pretend to still have Paul Dickov on the books, and claim that he is Sergio Aguero.
Listen guys, i found a website which had assembled a list of squad values to see how much our squad cost, the other team came up too, it might not be 100% accurate but we can all agree that it looks about right. and the point is like some of you understand, is that we a competing against squads at least a £100 mil more than ours.
What a load of sh¡t
Comments are hilarious though. OP, terrible attempt, just awful.
I want to know who's wages we're paying now ready for next season. I hope it's a decent CB and a Left Back.
What's more relevant is net spend rather than just money spent.
Net spend over the last 6-10 years for instance would give a far more accurate picture of how much has been pumped into a squad and where (in theory) they should be in terms of current success.
is that we a competing against squads at least a £100 mil more than ours.

Which is quite likely due to the fact that City, United and Chelsea all changed managers in the summer. The club that is has had the most effect are struggling the most. Crazy stuff.

Neither are the articles in "Viz", but I don't base my arguments on it, even if I do find them chortlesome.
You could be happy
I won't know
But you weren't happy
The day I watched you go
And all the things
That I wished I had not said
Are played on loops
Till it's madness in my head
Is it too late to remind you
How we were
But not our last days of silence
Screaming, blur
Most of what I remember
Makes me sure
I should have stopped you from walking
Out the door
You could be happy
I hope you are
You made me happier
Than I'd been by far
Somehow everything
I own smells of you
And for the tiniest moment
It's all not true
Do the things
That you always wanted to
Without me there to hold you back
Don't think, just do
More than anything
I want to see you girl
Take a glorious bite
