Will the Glazers really back the club

Why spend 20 odd million on a rb when we have Rafael? Shaw will be expensive. We also do not need a world class CB, we have Smalling, Jones and Evans and Michael Keane. Time to give Smalling and Jones/Evans a chance, if they fail then we can try Keane before spending the cash.

CM, yes we need a couple, agreed. Same with a winger.

I believe they will spend after all, they spent almost 30m on Fellaini, a player we do not need.

People keep talking about net spend and using it as a stick to beat the Glazers with and forget how much the ronaldo money affects the figure.

They also forget that under the Glazers, we have bought or signed;

Van der Sar
De Gea
Lindegaard
Rafael and Fabio
Evra
Vidic
Smalling
Jones
Young
Valencia
Hargreaves
Anderson
Nani
Tevez
Berbatov
Van Persie
Fellaini
Mata
Kagawa
Bebe (7m for a player no one had seen)

If that is not supporting the manager with signings, I do not know what is

A right back is needed even if it's cover. Rafael misses a LOT of games. And Smalling is horrific at right back and Jones is wasted there.

Mudd not disputing we've signed players. But for club of this size I don't believe we have invested enough especially midfield where we've pretty much invested nothing in 7 years now.

I hope the glazers do really splash the cash it would certainly banish people's bad opinions of them.

Your forgetting the money you will have to pay moyes when he gets the sack one year into a 6 year deal.

About 20 million for that, 50 million to cover not being in the champions league the cost of hiring a new manager.

And 70 odd million to keep good ol Malcolm an the boys in grits an duck dynasty atire.

AT least 150m spending in summer is needed if we are to challenge for the CL in the near future

You obviously have zero idea about how big a club Utd is and the revenue they bring in. We don't have to sell anyone.

I'm not a genius or anything, but I'd say Loz was on the wind up with that

I wouldve thought a left back and 2 centre mids are the requirements?
Jones & Evans/Smalling are of sufficient quality when they arent put under the intense pressure thats the result of not having a midfield that can retain & recycle the ball
Rafael is a decent RB with valencia ok as back up
Too many new faces just dont work, far better to bring 3 in and refresh 1 or 2 each window

Paul I tend to agree but Utd have let several players get very old without replacing. The club has no choice but to replace and spend big now.

So 5 or 6 players is what we need.

Replacing 5 or 6 players at once could do more harm than good. Our wide options aren't 'that' bad.

Jay they cannot cross the ball. We literally might as well just knock ball into touch when in wide positions.

Young is in a good run of form, Januzaj can play from the wing, Kagawa can play to the side, as can Mata (especially if people are wanting to see that narrower formation that everyone keeps banging on about)

De Gea
Rafael Jones Smalling NEW
NEW Carrick NEW Mata
Rooney
RVP

Lindegaard valencia hernandez young evra evans fellaini cleverley powell januzaj welbeck nani ferdinand henriquez keane lingard petrucci

May have missed one or two but that should be a very competitive squad, michael keane looks good enough to start getting dipped in and powell does as well

A couple of good goals and people have started thinking Young is in good form. No. I tend to look at the entire 90 minutes rather than goals highlights and Young has been awful.
How can Kagawa play from the side. The guy has been a disaster for us playing from the wings. Its only when he plays no 10 he shows signs of his true potential.
Agree about Januzaj. He is the only shining light but Moyes has said that his future lies in the no 10 position. Mata again is good behind the striker although he can play on the wings but not as good as he plays no 10

I don't think Loz was wumming (well maybe a bit) but its not the size of the club and whats in the coffers but an answer too your question. United can undoubtably afford it but the Glazers might want it funded by selling off players first. We tried that in Mancini's last season and it didn't work, you miss out on too many targets. United did the same last season by trying to play hard ball over spending.

Missing out on champions league will also have a financial effect.

Free transfer for vidic, giggs and rio retire and you wouldn't get much for the likes of Valencia Smalling or young.

We only need a back up RB so wouldn't need to spend 15-20 mill.

We don't need a winger as we have

On the right - Mata, Valencia Nani Zaha
On the left - Kagwa Januzaj Young

Obviously Nani may leave but considering how many players we do need in the summer, I think we can leave the wide positions for now.

We need:

LB
Back up RB
CB
CM x 2

If RVP left I wouldn't mind us going for Reus and playing this though:

Reus Mata Januzaj
Rooney

Please learn to read what I said. Young is in good form, he has been since just before Christmas, that much is pretty much undeniable to anyone who has watched our games. Even those fairly prejudiced against him have admitted as much (even without his goals, he has been by far our most productive out and out winger.)

I also said Kagawa can play from the left (not the wing) in a narrow formation - hence the sentence "especially if people are wanting to see that narrower formation that everyone keeps banging on about"

So please, before you startt spouting your half arséd comments about how Young is shít and Kagawa can't play on the wing, actually read the sentences put in fúcking front of you.

I don't think Reus will be too enamoured with playing Thursday nights in the Faroe Islands
