Ibrahimovic is the best in the world. He just has a social life too.

Both players have been a joy to watch but Suarez has definitely been the better player. I bet that Januzaj wins Young Player of the Year. Would be a complete injustice if that happened. Hazard and Sturridge far more deserving.

Hazard and Sturridge should be deemed too old IMO. But thats a different debate.

As of now Suarez but by the end of the season it could be up for debate

I don't think Saurez is on another level to Hazard. Saurez has had the better year, however in terms of the ability they have shown on the pitch, and the performances, Hazard and Saurez are in the same league.

Match ratings are always impacted on goals, and since a striker will more likely get goals than a midfielder, then it gives them the advantage. Also Liverpool are a more expressive team going forward than Chelsea. Put both players in the Liverpool team, and both players would look just as good.

Suarez clearly deserves it up until this point but still a few months left in the season. You wouldn't rule out the FA fixing things so I would say Hazard still has a good chance yet.

Has POTY and YPOTY ever been from the same club? Could well happen with Suarez and Sturridge this year. Though I agree with ASS that Hazard and Sturridge are too old/established to really be given YPOTY.

Agreed. Should be maximum age of 21 IMO for young player of the year.

Suarez is a flat track bully still no goals against any of the top four, great against the Norwichs of this world tho!
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Well if he's a flat track bully then England are screwed in the summer!

Seriously, I can't believe people that watch him play would suggest this. He scored against Spurs and Everton, our rivals for top 4, and turned in very, very good performances against Arsenal (h) and City. If you're basing his ability on goals scored in 4 games (Arsenal x 2, City and Chelsea away) without taking into account performance then I think it's a little daft.

This accusation of big game bottler used to be thrown at Ronaldo as well. I'm not saying Luis is on that level (he's not) but the accusation is equally rediculous.

Suarez is unbelieavebly talented. The best player in the league for me. He cheats to get where he wants and refs are not wise to it. Messi and ronaldo dont have to do that. But suarez is amazing at times.

posted on 14/2/14

Eh? He goes down just the same amount as ronaldo and Messi. I don't know how he 'cheats' all the time

Maybe they don't but they are two of the finest players ever to play the game!

I get the cheating reputation he has and whilst I don have sympathy for it, it's been brought upon himself, I would say he's far better this year than last. I don't mean the big incidents either, there's less diving and less niggle with opposition defenders. He seems to be more focused on his game rather than what others are doing.

I'm not actually sure opposition fan have seen this improvement in his on field behaviour. He's not angel and never will be, but neither is he any worse than a number of other players on the evidence of this season.

Maybe the threat of a nother long ban sterling? This could be the only time the FA have actually got it right.
Biting ivanovic, the handball incident, all other sorts of stuff.
But he still does the little shoves, which sometimes at pace can injure a player if he lands awkward etc. Still the little pull backs etc.
He must be one nuisance player but with the talent also. Must be a nightmare to play against. That shot which he hit against the post against was it everton? unbelieavable

Cheating was drogba mate! Suarez puts his body on the line. Not his fault defenders are dumbasses and continue to go in rather than hold back a tackle

posted on 14/2/14

Dalglish none of that makes sense?I wasnt talking abou defenders going into tackles. And drogba was a pain in the ass when he was flopping about dont get me wrong but there was always contact and he never bit anyone or done niggling little fouls.
I dont know what your getting at.

Maybe, depends whether you believe more in carrot or stick?! I think he's just developing as a player and realising that if he concentrates on his own game it serves his own purposes better. As a fan id probably credit BR for getting the best out of him too.

The nigglely fouls on defenders still happen from time to time but much less than last year. Perhaps it's because the team as a whole are closing down more.
