I know Hazard is good and all...

Assits are the most over used and useless stat of all as it takes two players to make the assist stat...

It is hardly a surprise that assists are going to be higher for Livepool versus Chelsea...

Chances created is a better indicator in this regard, but as said before, focus should be more on qualatative analysis as the stats are so limited anyhow..

^i.e. Thomas Muller.

^But in that case i'd blame the style of play. I would say that for this season, sturridge has been a better footballer, because he has done more of what he's supposed to. Take into account that chelsea have better players than liverpool and i think it makes the stats even more impressive using your 'qualitative' analysis

I think Hazard's main improvement this season versus last is that he is now doing more of what he is supposed to do,,,

And there are no stats with qualitative analysis..

Hazard is not on Suarez' level yet, but he's fast catching up. Player of the year should go to Suarez though, without doubt. Young player for Hazard hopefully, but we'll see.

If Aguero had been fit.....he'd have surpassed Suarez's goals, but Suarez is now hitting a brick wall, goals are starting to dry up.....Hazard has 1 good game every 3.......guess he was superb against WBA, West Ham? Top class player!

posted on 15/2/14

He was poor agst WBA and Ididn't see the West Ham game. But this season he has been higher than good in 1 ifrom 3

posted on 15/2/14

Fair enough....I've seen him have 3, maybe 4 really good games. He's young though and will only get better.

Excellent prospect, but goes missing too easily.

posted on 15/2/14

Last season he did, but the biggest change under Mourinho this season is that he doesn't.

He looked bdead tired agst WBA and had a poor game but we are over dependent on him, so not too surprised by that..

Chelsea are sorted for years.

Oscar, Hazard, Matic and Courtouis are all in the top 20 young players around.

Eh. Aguero hasn't been scoring a goal a game even when fit so how would have caught up with suarez exactly?

Voting likely to be:

1. Suarez 2. Aguero 3. Hazard

Stats are not everything but anyone dismissing them needs their head testing.

And this Sandra Brown poster is under 14 - no grown man would be that bitter

I agree with the comments about stats. They can be useful, but fans nowadays seem to think they are the be all and end all. Goals scored for strikers are obviously very important, but I find this obsession with assists a little odd. Stats can be very useful, but they are often quoted and applied in the wrong way.

A winger could brilliantly beat 5 men play a lovely ball to an unmarked fullback who simply controls it and passes it two yards for the striker to roll it past the keeper.

Who gets the assist? The fullback.

Regardless, Suarez clearly deserves the award. To score so many goals (with no penalties), to continue to light up games with an incredible pieces of skill, to fire a unstoppable free kicks past hapless goalkeepers, whilst always displaying an incredible work ethic and hunger means that this award really should be a formality.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Aguero has failed to score in 5 PL games this season.
No PL hatricks.

Played - 16 PL games, scored 15.

Suarez has failed to score in 9 PL games.
He's scored x1 hat-trick and a x4 in those figures = x7

Suarez - 21 PL games, scored 23

Aguero has missed at least 8 PL games this season, Suarez missed 5.

It'd be close.....still think Aguero may come claw it back...but I'm not doubting how good Suarez has been this season.....

Exactly. And to the person who said Hazard only has 1 good game in 3, please approach a mirror, open up the palm of your right hand, proceed with an upward swing of your arm, and slap yourself square in the face.

Did that.....still feel the same way......next?

Yeah but its a numbers game. Long term, assists show whos the best at it.

I'm not saying it's all about stats, but suarez's linked up play is fantastic, hence why he has created twice as many clear cut chances as the next person in the league. It's just ridiculous

posted on 15/2/14

Suarez has been the best player this season but he has not lit up all big games.Aguero has been class and more of a big game player.Sturridge has been better than Hazard but he has been fantastic after a slow start.

Assists are a subjective stat due to a 3rd party influencing the result.

You're better off looking at key passes.

Brenda's Babes...if it's not all about stats, why comment on his 'clear cut' chances he's created??

On Soccer Saturday today they showed a piece of skill by Suarez agst Fulham..............it was simply brilliant!
