"My point being the reason the MP would be shouted down."

And those that observe the shouters have the option to say :

I saw you being an utter when that MP was trying to discuss a relevant topic. You are not getting my vote now.

The point is you vote with your FEET, and tell them WHY.
That is all they understand.

You have contempt for your bank and their part in the financial collapse ??
Tell em so as you move your account to a bank that is not so stupid.

You have contempt for Starbucks and their non spirit of the law manipulation of their tax liabilities ??
Don't buy a thing from their shops.

I`m all for revolution. The fecccking royals swanning around doing SFA for 50 weeks of the year. Feccccking parasites.

I get what you're saying RDBD and generally I do those things you suggest.

I vote - pointless that was.
I wouldn't bother changing banks - they're all cants.
Don't buy Starbucks etc rather make me own.

But seriously, do you think such actions are big enough to change the world we live in? You have to buy from some shops.. farmers markets are good but they don't stock essential medicines etc..

Yes we should all do our bit, but I am aware of the false sense of liberation that can be derived from it.

You know what I mean, the:

"I bought a Prius - i'm saving the world"
(forget the huge carbon footprint of producing it)

"I recycled my food waste - i'm saving the world"
(forget the tonnes of waste being poured into the ground by supermarkets every day)

Both noble things to do, by false empowerment should be our enemy. We're better informed than that

""I recycled my food waste - i'm saving the world"
(forget the tonnes of waste being poured into the ground by supermarkets every day)"

That one is very relevant to me (it is a continual in my quest for 100% recycling) .

So this is how it goes ...

Do you shop at X ?? No. I shop at Y.

Why ??
Because Y has been shown to write off less food waste per annum than X.
Because for all the stuff I buy, Y uses less packaging than X and/or more of it is easily recyclable.

Vote with your feet, and tell them why.

I recycled all my glass the other day.. doing my bit

Thinking locally will help I guess, if nothing else than by making your surroundings more tolerable.

UKIP wouldn't change fack all if they got in power - the same multi-nationals would be there to take their hand and guide them through the process of extracting profits from the proletariat.

Game on

Also, did you really tell Tesco (?) why you stopped shopping there?? I'd love to know their response if you did

Fair play RDBD, but what about the BOGOFs??

"Fair play RDBD, but what about the BOGOFs??"

They all do that.
With basic use of mysupermarket, you can near continually get BOGOFs and half-price deals as the supermarkets respond to eachother in pricing wars.

Price wars

My little victory is not using loyalty cards.. the information must be worth more than the discounts they give you.

"My little victory is not using loyalty cards"

The key point of it is they don't divulge the "exchange rate" .
Which for Tesco is about 0.5 per point ??
Which is worthless for a 20 quid per week shop.
I get more money back per week from Tesco when they run their "price pledge" stuff.

Fight the power (wherever it be) !!!

Tesco are an awful company, always looking to trick shoppers with their offers, which in reality are not offers at all.

How can they for instance sell Waira Cove Sauv Blanc in one store for £11.99 and then 5 miles away in another Tesco the same wine is £6.99?

Their stores (look next time you go in) maximise space which includes ceiling height. Most Tesco stores have fairly low ceilings, which makes the store feel crammed. Yet go to Asda or Sainsburys and they all have high ceilings, which create a much nicer ambience in which to shop.

Tesco are losing business because they have finally been found out. After decades of destroying local shops with their out of town sites, they are losing market share & I for one am glad.

We have a butcher/greengrocer, paper shop with cooked food snack bar, Londis shop & post office, a Chinese take away & an off licence.

We support them all!

------

I noticed this just yesterday with two stores near me! The superstore on the outskirts - two premium burgers for £2. In town the same burgers are £4. Thieving basteds.. I made my own in the end

Supermarket pricing based on competition or the perceived affluence of the locale is a known tactic.
Supermarkets also epitomise the principle of voting with your feet.
Whatever the entity (commerce, politics etc) , there is always a "bottom line" .
When the public start impacting it, then they soon change their ways.

In the UK we don't harrass the entities enough.
So they take the collective apathy as advocacy/endorsement of their ways.
