Songs Unique to a Club?

They didn't move to the industry though did they. May is from London and Mercury moved over as a youth from a British territory. They are the main members, they met as students and formed the band. They are a London band but if it makes you feel better we'll call them nomads or refugees or something.

The point is mancs talk a lot of rubbish when it comes to music, how can they claim something like their musicians are far better with a straight face. They actually kids the selfs in to believing it though. I was at a BBQ last summer and this manc bloke was going to his Thai bride wife who had no idea what he was talking about saying "see I told you manc bands were the best in the world"

Not quote sure how a city has convinced the selfs such rubbish.

"It is a completel joke when people from Manchester and Liverpool claim this. You could argue the Beatles although personally I think they are the most overrated band of all time"

Out of interest, do you know who wrote the Rolling Stones first top twenty hit...?

Nearly every band you mention there cite the Beatles as references.

Well I know the Beatles were quite groundbreaking in that they wrote their own songs, today it is seen as a bad thing but times have just changed, look back at Motown for example and they didn't wrote any of their own songs, we don't hold that against them, it is just the way it was.

I know PM was a writer on that song and of course the Beatles are hugely important and loved, I think they got some brilliant songs but that's not to say they can't be overrated, they clearly are.

Horrendous phone typos

Apologies friends

It's not about who wrote the songs though, it's about the composition of them which is why they are so highly rated.

They are clearly not. A lot of music is purely opinion. A lot of it isn't though, it is compositional and the way they pushed the boundary of accepted theory paved the way for virtually every band you mentioned and a lot of what is listened to today. No-one did the chord changes they came up with, nor used the recording techniques.

You seriously don't think the gushing for The Beatles is overt he top?

They have some good songs, they have a couple of great songs, they are hugely important In the history of music (although much of that is aside from just the music) there were forerunners, they just came along at the right time.

Their popularity is increased because the appeal is quite broad, they have a varied back catalogue. They are the go to band for people to like when questioned if they aren't particularly in to music.

Fair enough if you disagree, it is just opinion after all but when Glee do a Beatles special things have gone a bit far for me!

Not as influential no but the Beatles came at a formative time and are much more poppy, The Clash however are a far, far better band, their songs are brilliant, the Beatles are just good pop songs.

Out of interest what is your favourite Beatles song(s)? The one that I often forget is them that I really like is Come Together, sounds more like the kind of track that appeals to me.
