When Rose gets the ball its a lost cause. I like Migs desire to stop it. Not blaming him for it. Just saying if it was me I would have preferred to stay on my line. He could have probably saved it if he had but that's the gift of hindsight talking. Overall he was great yesterday when called upon IMO. If he had tipped it wide it would have been a mindblowing save.

If he stays on his line, Rose doesn't need to hurry the shot, he can pretty much pick 75% of the goal to aim at. He wouldn't have "aimed" near post then.
In my former life as a goalie, staying on my line was NEVER an option!

There were players on the line and behind Mig by the time Rose gets his shot off. Anywhere but the near post and a defender could have maybe got to it if you look at the replay.

We shoulda kept Sterling

I was genuinely thinking the same over the past week or so. Hopefully Ojo will be a great option when he's back.
Anyone who is saying that mig shouldn't have come put and narrowed the gap is crazy.
----
Come out a bit and narrow the angle yes.
He went further than that though.

Sterling really looking like he will kick on this season, which is good to see, hopefully it continues.
As an Englishman I want to see our best young players improving.

He did what all keepers would have done when an opponent gets the ball six yards out, not completely under control and no defenders around to do that job. If Rose had killed it dead, mig wouldn't have had the option but as soon as the ball gets slightly away from Rose, mig absolutely has to do what he did.
========
Absolute hogwash. Keepers don't have the time to see whether the player has controlled the ball well. Rushing out isn't really determined by how good the control is.
Spurs keeper stayed put when in the same situation and was able to make a save at his near post. He must be crazy too, no?
People on this thread share opinions politely and there's nothing crazy about suggesting he could have stayed put. Keepers don't rush out at that angle. Its already narrow FFS. Your naivette is stratospheric.
