How would everyone rate our transfer window so far? I think out goings wise has been good, hopefully a few more to leave still but incoming not great.
Poor overall, especially in comparison to our rivals.
at the beginning of summer I felt we needed:
GK
CB
LB
DM
Probably in that order. Got the GK and CB, so we shall see how that goes.
LB and DM are still big misses for us.
Wij, I don't get. Don't see that he is a CM at all.
Mane, while I didn't think an AM would be a priority, I can;t say I am unhappy at his signing.
So, overall. Not great. I think we have definitely strengthened, but not enough to get into the top 4. Disappointing too when net spend is considered.
But that shiny net spend trophy will sure look good in the trophy room.

To be fair mane for 34 mil is very close to our record.
I think it's been okay, not poor but not great. Karius, matip, Klavan, mane are all good additions. Grujic I'm excited about, wijnaldum I always felt was unnecessary but will give him time.
Still would like a new left back to add more balance to the side, but Milner has been decent so far there, barring one mistake.
Poor overall, especially in comparison to our rivals.

Why?
Spurs and Chelsea are both still scrambling to buy players today.
Spurs have barely strengthened their squad at all, their bench is still very average, as it was last season, difference now is they have CL football and can't give up on Europe like last year. Wanyama is a solid signing and Janssen has potential, but they needed 5-6 players for better quality depth and have arguably got worse depth right now as let Chadli go. Spurs could struggle for top 4 IMO.
Chelsea have been desperate for a centre half all summer and still can't find one. Cahill and Terry still first choice, with not much in reserve. Kante will help them defensively but will it be enough? Not for a title challenge IMO, but they will challenge for top 4 with no Europe.
Arsenal got Xhaka in early but then left it until the last minute to make the changes they needed to elsewhere, making it hard for Perez and Mustafi to hit the ground running (and Perez could easily be an Aspas, he's not proven quality over a number of years).
The Manc clubs are the only teams who I would say have strengthened better than us without doubt. Utd look to have strengthened the spine of their team with real quality which should make them title challengers possibly.
City have strengthened almost all over the pitch and are the stand out title favourites.
Right now I think we have a good chance of finishing above Spurs, and a fighting chance of getting above Chelsea and Arsenal. Injuries, cup runs etc will be key.
Wisdom joining Red Bull Salzburg on loan for the season.
Balotelli to Nice looks like it's happening too

Klavan - coming in to add to our CB options, replacement for Toure. Cost next to nothing so let's see how he gets on. ?
Matip - in on a free but being paid big money, obviously a player Klopp wanted and rates. Only made his debut on Saturday after some injury problems. Hope it's not a sign of things to come?
Karius - We definitely needed a replacement for Migs, I'd personally hoped for Forster from Southampton but let's wait see if he's good enough to be our number 1. Very unlucky to break his hand?
Manninger - Old, third choice, free and for that reason✔️
Wijnaldum - I was surprised by the signing as I couldn't see where he was going to play, paid a lot of money for him and I think we all wanted a more specialised DM.?
Gruijc - has looked good, one for the future. ✔️
The biggest issue I have with our business this window is the fact that we haven't addressed the big issues with the squad. If Moreno is trusted and klopp thinks he's good enough and doesn't need a new left back, then play him. Don't bring a right footed CM in to play out of position.
I think Milner might be on one of those contracts where he has to play a certain number or bulk of the games.
