We spend about the same as Leicester and Spurs on players.

That doesn't sit well.

They only finished 1st and 3rd last season after all.

Fact is in a summer when the biggest TV deal has hit, giving clubs 100's of millions and teams have been breaking they're transfer records. We've made a profit of £14.5m!

Now before the "you can't just spend, spend, spend" comes in, I'm not suggesting we just throw more money at 5h1te. Because that's what we've done a lot of over the last few years and I'm glad we've been able to actually recoup money on the players we've let go. Over the last few years we've made huge losses on most of the players we've let go and this represents a good change.

And don't start with the new stand Malarkey!

The new stand will pay for its self what with the new corporate boxes in it and the bigger capacity. Thrown in the amount of commercial deals the club has and that will have all been secured before building started.

I don't think it's unreasonable as a season ticket holder to expect the club to have a budget for players and then spent that budget on improving the squad by getting the players it needs and the players of quality that it needs to take it to the next level.

I'd also like to know how much we've saved on wages after this summers cull!

Sakho has been included in our 25 man premier league squad for the season.

My guess is that we couldn't attract the top players and rather than just buy for the sake of it Klopp preferred a smaller group, with the hope he can get us playing as a good team, with some degree of success which will put us in a better position in terms of attracting players in the summer or even January.

Simple thing about attracting the players you want is to pay them the money they want!

With no Europe I think it's better having a smaller group of players. Though I wish we bought a left back, Moreno is a huge weak link.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I can agree with that and the only thing I'm disappointed with is no LB & I would have loved a quality DM that can get things going!

Yup. I think the majority feel that way.

Whether we tried to sign those players of not, we just can't know. But it doesn't make it any less disappointing that we didn't get them.

Yeah, I know many don't like to admit it but it's not just about money for players. Even for the players who put it at the top of their priorities way ahead of anything else, you'll have clubs that can offer more than us in transfer fees and wages.

You have to combat that in other ways. Building a team which has some success which then attracts players who aren't there just for the money is one way. However it has to happen over a very short period of time as you risk your better players leaving and you're back to square one.

Wasn't last year the first profit we have made for ages, and that was only due to player sales?

Homebrew update:

Syphoned the beer out of the fermentation vessel and barrelled it tonight. Should be sweet nectar in about 3-4 weeks!

I saw Borini is out for three months, real shame for him, and for Arouna. Probably explains the Anchovy signing though.

Borini destined to always be injured it seems.

Just when he looks like he is starting to get his career back on track again he gets injured. Happens every time.

Off the top of my head, in 2013 we made a loss of over £50m. In 2014 we made a slight loss and then a small profit in 2015. The sales of Torres, Suarez and Sterling are the only things that kept our accounts looking decent. Now FSG have turned us into a money making machine and we are genuinely profitable. We are nowhere near maximising our potential either. The platform for us to do all these things our fans crave has been created expertly. If FSG plan to sell then they will soon IMO. The time has come. I hope they don't though because I'm genuinely intrigued to see what the next 3-5 years will be like.
