I've an iPhone, had the last three but will be upgrading to Android soon. One Plus 3 I'm gonna go for. The specs are amazing.

Not available here on contract either. My thoughts are to sell my iPhone, add about a ton to it, get a GiffGaff sim. Think about £20 per month gets you unlimited calls, texts and data.

I've heard about that GiffGaff offer. I tweeted them to open up their network in SA with the same offer. Never heard anything after that.

Data here is a nightmare. Both price and speed, we're even behind some African countires, despite them not having the same economic power as us. Chit is embarrassing.

Although I think as more people move toward the wifi option at home, mobile networks will have to lower their prices eventually. Its been a slow process though.

The market in Africa for all sorts of consumer goods and services is a goldmine with some of it currently dominated by a single behemoth entity in most countries, almost entirely in some. Internationally established comms companies have attempted to enter the fray in mobile, data and TV only to be choked out as they won't allow competition to gain a proper foothold in the market.

The competition laws are there but their application is terribly wanting allowing these behemoths to set prices as they go along and breaking nationwide record profits every year.

Just to add to the phone conversation,

Ive worked extensively with iPhones, and they are massively overrated and overpriced.

My previous two phones were a Sony Xperia z1 + a z3, Having bought the Z3 after having the 1 for 3 or 4 years, and it surviving a LOT of abuse. that phone was near indestructible, the z3 however cracked like an egg, twice within the first 6 months of getting it.

I now have a OnePlus 2, which i have had for 6 or so months, and the value for money on the phone is just amazing.. it cost less than the z3 ffs and measured up respectably to the z5

I like the fact they are only distributed by OnePlus themselves and are completley unlocked, it has two sim card slots, which is actually handy, if you otherwise have a seperate work phone and would rather just carry one.

It works on a stripped down version of android too, it retains only the core features of android and removes all the software that other phone companies are paid to stick on your phone, such as shazam.

The only issue i have had is occasional "hangs" on the current version of the OS which requires a hard reset (sound down and standby button on android)

all in all for half the price of the Iphones its got very comparable power and easily replaceable battery when it does decide to stop charging properly.

I walk the dog for about 2 hours with strava open and using a radio app and usually see a less than 9% drop in the battery however i have been careful with the charge cycles (to preserve lifespan of lithium ion batteries you shouldnt let them drop below 20% apparently, and where possible perform power hungry tasks such as mobile games with it plugged in)

Also, USB 3 charger works either way up

I have the Z3 compact currently. Got it for almost 2 years now. Never had any problems with it performance wise or anything relating to the software. Only the GPS stuff really, which stops working after a while. Im a GPS myself though, so dont really need directions to go anywhere.

Z5 isnt much of an upgrade other than flashy stuff like the camera and LCD. Sony's prices are high though for not much improvement on their releases. The Z5 Premium being the first 4k phone is the main selling point.

I was really looking forward to getting another Sony phone but they're not impressing. Im leaning towards the P9 lite atm.

In other news, I think Kneerash is going to need a bigger boat.

Spurs fans need to chill...they had a 'title challenge' with 70pts last season.

That usually just gets you a challenge for top 4.

Ive also got the one plus 2, really happy with it, wish id waited for the one plus 3 though, drop it a few times and no cracks like id get with my s4
