Then he got to the top level, and someone somewhere trawled through his twitter feed and ran a story on them, and now the FA have banned him.

I'm not saying what he said was acceptable but it was 4 years ago!
Social media was big then and just because he was a non-league player it was not picked up but now he's in the premier league it has been. I think everybody has said things in they're youth that they regret but to be punished 4 years on is wrong.
On a side note and something I've thought about before, football has a zero tolerance on racism from fans that result in lifetime bans. Why not players to?
Fair point KLS. If I racially abused someone at work I'd be fired and would struggle to find another job in my industry.
I believe a fine and a diversity course would have been sufficient.
I don't agree with banning footballers from football matches for words on social media.
Bans for football matches should only be for things that happen on the pitch IMO (unless they are in prison obviously!).
Anyway! Game day today and my first match of the season after missing the Leicester game due to going to Alton Towers for my eldests birthday, facking kids.
For all the good performances we've had this season, it'll all be a waste of time if we do a Burnley today! A win and a clean sheet would be very nice.
