As with any transfer window - we’ll only really know the success of it all nearer Christmas.
If we’re 10 points off City then expect people to be up in arms.
If we’re rubbing shoulders with them at the top then everyone will be lauding the manager and FSG.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah fans are annoyingly fickle.
And Spurs haven't got Sessegnon, Dybala or Lo Celso over the line yet. Still time for Levy to try to pinch a penny too much!
It is strange that United ended talks with Dybala due to his wage demands but Spurs are reported to be in for him.
It's just Levy's tactic to say he tried.
Exactly. I can't see him lowering his demands too much below the 350k he was rumoured to be demanding from Utd. He would defo want more than Kane is on.
I think he's on around 180/190 at Juve already isn't he?

Probably didn't want to go to United but wanted to see if Woodward was dumb enough to give him £350k a week, would hardly put it past him
Appatently Utd wanted his image rights (as they do with most players now) so that was the reason for massive wages and Spurs don't. Argentinian coach, London and CL football wont have hurt either.

It's a massive wake up call for United and their fans I think. There's no way that United didn't offer higher wages than Spurs did.
United fans on here at the start of the summer were going on about how they can still attract the biggest players despite the current situation of no CL football.
They are starting to realise like we did that history and tradition only gets you so far.

Youve barely mentioned this tbf. Fvck your feelings and realise that we simply bought players early last season, that helped us win the CL and we have a good squad.
WE HAVE A GOOD SQUAD.
Just in case mate.

There's rumours that Dybala's agent wants £15m for the transfer...how has Woodward not nailed this

I think that history shows thst very few clubs progress without bringing in additions that can challenge the first team squad.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So we dont get 98 points and win 2 CL's.
Im very excited for the new season and enjoy watching us play. Just my opinion.

I'm very excited for the new season and enjoy watching us play, I also want to see the squad continue to improve when we get the chance to do so, the two aren't linked in case people didn't realise. Just my opinion.
Did we even have any solid targets?
I doubt we were really in for Pepe. We may have inquired about Fernandes but I doubt we think he's £60m worth of talent.
There's still Jan to rectify our mistakes if we make any.

And nobody is saying that we don't have a good squad. We could have better and this summer the club was in a position to strengthen it. Klopp and Henry said we would spend. We haven't, So what changed?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think it's simply we cant get a player Klopp really wants. Like with Gomez where he said he couldnt fimd a better skill set on the market.
I dont dont get how people cant be happy that we blew loads last year. Ive said before but I get the feeling people would be happier if we signed Fabinho this summer rather than last just so we can have a new toy.

Some of us want to win the facking title robbing.
Just because you're happy that we've won the CL and don't feel we need to win trophies for a while doesn't mean the rest of us have to agree.
We are so close to City and being able to overhaul them but whilst they improve their squad we sit on our hands, how are likely to overhaul them with that attitude?
Of course I'm looking forward to the season and watching us play, and I think we'll have another excellent season (I repeat what I said about finishing 2nd with a deep run in the CL) but we are so close to being able to overhaul City it's frustrating that I've feel we've stopped short of trying to do so.

Clubs are proving that bs Klopp spouted about bills to be exactly thatloans to buy, paying in installments etc all being used.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Showing it's bs by debting themselves up?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Debt is not necessarily a bad thing.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
no, theyre just waiting until they can pay it and not break ffp? instead of using ffp as an excuse to not signing anyone and sitting on a shed load of money after a measly 75m net spend over 5 years

Oops. I dont think signings and improvement are mutually exclusive though. I think Fabinho and Keita being here already will improve us. I think Ox being back will improve us. I think Origi is getting better so that improves us. I suspect Brewster will offer more than Sturridge so that improves us.
Also Robbing there's a difference between having manageable debt (good thing) and loading yourself up with 3 mortgages (bad thing - unless of course it's manageable then good thing).
