City have to phase in a replacement for Fernandinho asap. He's 34, and integral to how they play. Look how they stuttered when he was injured. That position is massive to their game. We have 2 players in the squad over 28.

I think we should buy a replacement injury prone player for Sturridge. Wilshere perhaps? Although I think Lallana could probably step up and do a good job, without us needing to spend on Wilshere.

I don't get why buying someone like Dybala is seen as a backup who would hardly play though. City are an anomaly and I'm not expecting us to have the same depth they have, but they manage fine with rotating their options.

18/19 apps:
Sterling - 51
Sane - 47
Aguero 46
Bernardo Silva - 47
Jesus - 46
Mahrez - 44

So why is it their able to rotate their attacking options but anyone we sign would only play 20 games a season?

I think minutes played will be a better representation.

Hendo is 29, Milner 34, Lovren 30 and Lallana 31 but I get your point. Hendo aside who could still have five years with us left, the older players are on the fringes of the squad.

City have lost Kompany and will lose Silva, Fernandinho and Aguero within the next few years... OK they have the money to replace them but signings don't always work out.

If Pep goes around the same time as the players above leave/retire then I will finally be hopeful of a title win.

Which Spurs players will likely be pushed aside to accommodate these new lads?

----------------------------------------------------------------------
It's called having a squad.

It's like City fans complaining they signed Bernardo Silva because they had David Silva and KDB...
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Yes, I’m aware of that.

But I don’t think Dybala is going to be another Llorente.

He’s clearly going to reduce the playing time of someone like Son.

Ben Woodburn stole possession from Conor McLaughlin after the Sunderland debutant was guilty of a heavy touch, and his through ball enabled Fosu to chip home a neat finish.

Sane only started 21 of those games for example, so 20 isn't far off the mark. Not many players who are better than Ox, Shaqiri and Origi would be happy with starting 20 games a season. Even less in our case as our front three play most games. They don't get the injuries Aguero gets, for example.

The only other possibility is Eriksen goes, either way an effective player has to miss out.

Plus Sane is rumoured to want to leave for more playing time.........So it doesn't seem like he's happy with the current situation. In my opinion Dybala is the kind of player who will want to play virtually every game if fit.

Thanks. Shows you can never make everyone happy. Both Sane and Mahrez are unhappy about their playing time. Catch 22 this squad stuff.

Firmino had a average season last season despite the team success. At times he badly needed a rest. We did not have the forwards to drop Firmino and nothing has changed if Mane this season has a stinker.
