Fancy us to make a statement tonight.
We'll get space that's for sure.
I'm thinking 1-2 as well. Wouldn't surprise me if we dropped points again though.
Just hope we get to see Thiago from the start.
City, United and Spurs have all won at Southampton. Southampton have 1 win in 5 and the goals have dried. They are there for the taking.

Whybif we drop points it's that the lads are always lazy, complacent or arrogant?
It's sport ffs

If the 7-2 against Villa didn't rid us of complacency then the recent draws definitely won't. 1-0 Southampton.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
After that defeat the record was W6 D2 of the next 8 games in all comps. Including despatching the likes of Atalanta and Leicester with ease and taking points off Man City as well.

I like Liverpool FC myself. Quite fond of them in fact.

People just look at how unbelievable we have been the last two seasons and become arrogant and spoilt. Thinking that by not quite reaching the amazing levels we have been, with a brutal injury record somehow it is laziness or complacency. It is genuinely embarrassing.

Why are people so offended that perhaps there's a question mark over the players complacency when we are drawing to utterly dross teams in the league that Arsenal and Leicester put away with consummate ease?

I believe complacency has played a part in some games this season, West Brom, Newcastle, Fulham, Brighton and Villa being those games.
So if we dont win then it's down to complacency?
There's eleven other professional footballers trying to stop them.

My only concern is that this team probably has another year after this season so we need to strike while the iron is hot as they say. Front 3 will decline. Hendo, Thiago, VVD, Wij, Matip are at there peak now so we really need to cash in this season with the title and when you waste opportunities against relegations foddlers then yeah it does annoy you.

Absolutely not, I've not said that at all.
In those specific games this season I feel we turned up expecting to win. Last season we used to play with an intensity in every game which was symptomatic of a side desperate to take 3 points. I've not seen that since project restart.

Things are feeling a little gloomy over Anfield.
A disappointing December and the Manchester Clubs on the horizon.
Alls we can try and do is win football matches. If we can beat Saints and United then we'll all feel better.
Big ask though.
Thiago is likely to start on the bench again at Southampton. #awlfc [@neiljonesgoal]
More dropped points incoming

Fulham actually played very well and had a worldie against us, no complaints there. My problem is with WBA and Newcastle games where we just casually strolled the ball about in midfield all day expecting opportunities to magically appear out of nowhere. We were still casually passing around harmlessly in injury time too.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We created way more chances against Newcastle than we did against say, Leicester or Wolves. WBA we were awful and you're right, we did expect to be able to create things just by keeping the ball. Still can't get my head around people being upset about the Newcastle game. Literally had 4 unreal chances. Probably better chances than we had against Palace.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
yes we did have the chances against newcastle but we played poorly.
There seemed to be a lack of motivation, or casualness about our play. Our passing was just awful whether it be a 5 yard or 50 yard passes.
I'm not sure what the problem was/is so I'll put down to a dip/loss of form after a tough year.
Not to mention the injuries we've had.
Lets hope we some a marked improvement tonight

I think there is an argument to be had that clubs raise their games when playing the Champions. This would be a fair comment given Fulham's performance, for arguments sake. That can affect the opposition's performance.
Last season most teams were content on trying to contain Liverpool without much success mostly, this season I think teams are playing without fear no more.

I disagree, although the final ball was off a few times which meant we could have had even more chances.
