Hoping I don't ever get the jab, literally pointless and there will always be more vulnerable people out there than me
----------------------------------------------------------------------
are you saying your refuse it
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Did I even allude to that? I think it stupid to offer it to me but if I am offered of course I'll take it.

If that's what those who know more than me deemit best then of course.

You hope you don’t ever get it because it’s literally pointless.......but given the chance, you’d take it?

I’m not even gonna try to work that logic out

I will wait a few years until I know what the side effects are.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I know it’s a relatively common viewpoint (someone in my family feels the same) but given the societal impacts of C19, the huge historical benefits of vaccine programmes and the lack of serious side effects from vaccines of this type; it’s a view I find really baffling.

I can’t help but think it’s a fundamentally selfish standpoint - let others take whatever ever risk there is to solve the problem without having to contribute.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I am selfish.

We still don't even have a clue of the long term effects the virus has. There's been reports of people never regaining their sense of smell or taste, organ failure and people's fingers & toes rotting off. Do we really think we have a vaccine that's going to work?

Also is any logical human being going to trust our governments with a vaccine after the way they have all handled this whole pandemic?

As selfish as it might sound, I rather take my chances myself and see how everything plays out.

I personally don't think I'll be offered it, and hope that everybody who needs it more gets it first which is why I don't think I'll be offered it.

But if I'm offered it, I'll take it as that's what people who know more than me have decided is the right thing.

Unsure what you're finding so complicated.

Your first paragraph is exactly why I would take the vaccine. "Long covid" is something I could do without.

No offense but there's nothing like a discussion about vaccines to show who the fking retaards are!

Pump me full of the stuff (once the vulnerables are sorted that is).

someone tested positive days after taking the vaccine.

People will inevitably test positive after the vaccine. The Oxford vaccine is said to only be 70% effective, so that's 30% of people it won't have the desired effect on could actually give them Covid because of it let's say. Hopefully this isn't the case though.

So you won’t take the vaccine because your body takes too long to build immunity?

From a personal point of view, I'd have the vaccine if it meant the whole country could get back on it's feet and back to normality again. If I don't have to take it, then I won't. I don't regularly take the flu jab every 6/12 months because I don't really need to take it. Not for any particular reason, but I just won't go and a get a jab for something that I don't necessarily need.

posted on 6/1/21

You're forgetting the point of the vaccine. It's not to make us all immune it's to drastically reduce the number of being being hospitalised by reducing the number of infected people and also the number of seriously ill people.

That's why the jabs were approved as they can do that. It's also why I don't think we all need it.

I'm with you here. I've never taken the flu jab as there will always be someone who needs it more.

The flu sucks but a few days of rest and I'm fine.

I'm hoping this gets to a point where we vaccinate x number of people and we can start to live a little bit more. My thought process has vaguely been, if the people who are vulnerable or are in desperate need of the vaccine eventually get the vaccine, does this virus become less of a "pandemic"? For this country at least.

By that point hospital cases and deaths should steadily go down. But then there is the case of the rest of the World as people go to travel around for holidays.

Apparently by mid February they will have given the first dose to everybody that needs a vaccine before this is no longer a pandemic.

They don't give a toss about our lives (nor should they) they care about the hospitals being overwhelmed.

I don't think they don't care about our lives because there are cases of "fit and healthy" people and young people getting serious symptoms and then obviously there are the long-term affects, such as "long Covid" to take into consideration. But the priority is get deaths and hospital cases down first.

I highly doubt by mid-Feb this won't be a pandemic no more in this country, I'm estimating by the summer time we might reach a point where we start to see things opening up on a more permanent basis, like gyms and hospitality, but then there will be the after effects of the vaccine, such as the length of time it lasts.

With the whole palaver of this pandemic, it's too smooth for people to get vaccinated and then that's it, some complications will be thrown in somewhere by the scaremongering media and folk.

Whilst that's not nice, chances are you will be alive once you're clear of flu, this is more or less the point.
