Whilst that's not nice, chances are you will be alive once you're clear of flu, this is more or less the point.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
of course I will, it just takes more than a few days as suggested above to pass through you.

That's the point though, I mean fair play you've gone and got a flu jab and got flu, but, as you say, you'll survive so the flu jab wasn't necessary, it was just a choice.
In this case with Covid, with it by and large being similar to flu for most people, I wouldn't go out of my way to vaccinate myself unless it effects the livelihood's of the country.
The difference is that coronavirus is worse than the flu and mutating in more challenging ways. So we need as few people as possible having it (less transmissions = less mutations). Therefore we want 100% global vaccination preferably. Although a lot lower than that could actually see it almost rid of

From a personal point of view, I'd have the vaccine if it meant the whole country could get back on it's feet and back to normality again. If I don't have to take it, then I won't. I don't regularly take the flu jab every 6/12 months because I don't really need to take it. Not for any particular reason, but I just won't go and a get a jab for something that I don't necessarily need.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm with you here. I've never taken the flu jab as there will always be someone who needs it more.
The flu sucks but a few days of rest and I'm fine.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I don't think you've ever had the flu if you're fine in a few days
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Define a few. I've had flu twice and it took 4 days to be fine. Is that a few?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I mean it was probably a week before I was fully back to being myself but a few days of staying at home basically bed bound. That's flu alright.
It affects us all in different ways. Some of us are more resilient than others.

Well no it doesn't mutate in more challenging ways because the flu vaccine regularly gets updated. It's just the fact that Covid is now in the news that people think it suddenly has different properties to that of flu, when really it isn't too dissimilar from what we know.

Getting a flu jab isn't a guarantee of not getting the flu, its just protection against the strain you get vaccinated for.
I take the flu jab as I had pneumonia 20 years in ago in my early 20's, as a result of that I have some scar tissue on my left lung which makes me a little more susceptible than others to infections/virus's that hit that area of the body.
Re the Covid vaccine surely we want everyone to have it, its not a case if you're a certain age you're invincible against it as shown as we have a lot more people in the 20-40 age range suffering from it in hospital suffering from it.

We still don't even have a clue of the long term effects the virus has. There's been reports of people never regaining their sense of smell or taste, organ failure and people's fingers & toes rotting off. Do we really think we have a vaccine that's going to work?
Also is any logical human being going to trust our governments with a vaccine after the way they have all handled this whole pandemic?

As you've said, you now get the flu jab because of your condition 20 odd years ago. Reason enough for you to warrant receiving a flu jab as obviously you will be more susceptible to flu and it could potentially be more harmful to you as an after effect of pneumonia for instance.
Of course it should be an aim to get everybody to have it, but as I have said, I don't think it should be forced for those people who believe they don't personally need it, like myself. I will have it if we need it for the country to move forward, but other than that it just seems pointless to me as chances are I'd expect to survive Covid.
Surely that decide not to have the jab will be restricted on what they can do? I’d be amazed if other countries will allow them into their borders.
