Even someone unrelated to football at all would look at the facts and see what a daft decision that was.
We took a gamble on Tsimikas last year with his suspect playing record in Greece and it did not turn out well for us and Robbo. Let's hope they have got Konate right.
I'd like Kabak but £18m on a guy who will only play if there's injuries, and he takes up non home grown spot, then it definitely makes more sense to keep Phillips for that role.

i thought robbo played alot because of the other injuries and wanting someone experienced in the backline rather than it being tsimkas being bad

But there will be injuries with Gomez & Matip
Now you add in that Van Dijk is coming back from something, at 30, that not many players come back the same from.
Now you add Konate who has his own problems.
It's all high risk.

Yeah this is exactly it "if there are injuries". Obviously none of us have a crystal ball but considering the injury records of Gomez, VVD and Konate if we sign him (have any of them completed a full season?) then I think we can say for certain that there will be injuries.
I'm not doubting there will be injuries but if we're keeping Phillips for that covering role then is it really worth spending £18m that could be better used elsewhere?
If we opt against Kabak and then also sell Phillips then I'll agree it's stupid.
All depends on VVD to be honest. One problem with him and we're back to Nat & Fabinho in defence because relying on Gomez & Matip is just setting yourself up for disappointment.
Klopp has already said that he can't guarantee that VVD will be ready for the first game of next season.
Gomez is fine for me. If you look at his injuries they've all been either freak ones or via bad tackles, and he didn't miss a single game last season.
Don't know enough about Konate but Matip is the only true crock.
Gomez has had an extended period out every season since he signed for us in 2015. That all can't be down to bad luck
You'd be surprised, according to transfermarkt the only injuries he's had are:
15/16 - cruciate ligament following a tackle - 52 games missed
16/17 - Achilles during pre-season - 15 games missed
17/18 - minor ankle injury - 7 games missed
18/19 - ankle injury caused by Ben Mee tackle - 23 games missed
20/21 - current injury in England training - 39 games missed

only?
Only in the sense that he doesn't get a lot of injuries, he just seems to get long terms when he does get one, of which I'd say 3 are definitely bad luck.
He's not a Matip or a Keita who can't play 5 games in a row without pulling a muscle.
We'll sign Kabak but it will be for less than 18m
Or at least that's what we're trying to do 100%

In his time with Liverpool then he's played 121 games and been injured for 136.
That is pretty horrendous.

But the real question is, do you have a bigger erection for Kabak than you did for Ox and Shaq?

If the clown doesn't select Trent I will call an African voodoo guy to curse England to lose all their games.
Nah Trent could do with a break and England will get slaughtered when they fail again
I really do think England are going to do well this summer. And I’d rather Trent be there, as he deserves to be for his form in the last part of the season.
Although selfishly as a Liverpool fan you want him to have a nice break and have a full proper pre season.
It’s 50 50 for me, either way don’t mind.
