We have twice conceded from the right hand side. Klopp should have started Gomez. Trent is and was an obvious weakness. Salah should have stayed on. He keeps the fullback pinned back. Jota, Firmino and Salah would have been the better choice.
Poor attacking substitution which made us toothless in attack.

Alison
Gomez Matip Konate Tsimikas
Thiago Fabinho
Jota Carvalho Diaz
Firmino

Klopp needs to stop being soft on his favourites. Henderson, Van Disney, Trent and Salah need to earn their way back into the team after their unforgivable lack of caring these last 2 months.

Diaz is probably out for a few weeks

Really hard done by the referee calls today but still the better team won I feel. We played well in spells offensively, particularly first half, Nunez performance today is why we bought him.

Once again though our defending both individually and collectively was relegation side quality. Starting both halves incredibly slowly (yet again), conceding in the first minutes (yet again) and even on the stroke of half time from our own free kick this time.

Said it last week and it will say it again, keep defending like that we won’t be winning many matches this season.

In terms of work rate general and fight again we were once again very much second best. Anyone got the running stats? I’m going to hazard a guess that Arsenal were very much on top again in that department. It was noticeable to see how we physically just dropped again in the last 30 minutes. We look a team of old blokes nowadays, probably because that’s exactly what we are.

Top 4 looks a bit of a pipe dream at the moment if we are being honest.

Laimer was a player we should have bought in the summer window but the club went for cheap. He would have given this midfield the energy and work rate it needed.

Are we supposed to worry yet?

10th place, 14 points from the leaders. Not good at all.

I know but he admitted we were interested.

Stale. That's how I'd describe this season. Squad looks stale and I dare say even Klopp's management is starting to feel that way a bit.

He obviously has ample time, way more than this season which is fast becoming a write off in the league, to change things but I think it's time we move on from the older players in the squad and build it around Konate, Trent, Diaz, Nuñez, Jota etc.

Ignoring the shambolic individual defending which is the biggest issue, the reality is we are losing the physical battle pretty much every match this season. Our title challenging years we would be superior to our opposition 9 times out of 10 in that department.

Klopp has the choice of senior players that don’t have the legs anymore or teenagers with little no experience of the intensity of the league. No matter who Klopp picks this season, the result has been the same.Have to agree that’s the result of the lack of investment in key areas thats resulted in this current situation.

Yeah lack of investment is a huge part of it but I'm unsure if it's the fault of FSG not supplying the funds or Klopp being blinded by loyalty.

Such a shame, the team never really got the trophies that would have been a true reflection of its greatness.

Yep I think Klopp is equally responsible as any to be honest. The midfield pursuit in the summer was a farce. Pre season prep was a disaster. Bizarre subs/decisions made at key moments.

Unfortunately we are entirely reliant on him getting us out this mess.

January cannot come soon enough but I don't think we'll do anything in it.

Frankly in the next two windows we need to look at long term replacements for so much of the team, pretty much the entire midfield, Salah and VVD need to be moved on in the next couple of years to make way for the future.

I posted a month ago our running stats and pressures per 90 minutes here and we were 11th compared to last season when we were second. It was obvious we needed new midfielders.

We all knew it, it was obvious to everybody except for those with any power in the decision sadly.

Unless Tchouameni was the only midfielder in world football that could have improved us.

Henderson racism allegations now from Gabriel. This was why the idiot ref went to managers for a 10 minutes conversation. Very much doubt Hendo would ever say anything.

He’s one of the last players in the whole league I would expect to do that. Though unfortunately these days it seems to be irrelevant if you did say anything or not….
