We are still very direct, not properly keeping the ball to maintain our wide overloads to create chances.
I can't wait to have some technical midfielders who can progress the ball with care. The amount of times we hoofed the ball forward without any intricate passing and one touch football was dreadful. Secondly a DM who can win those second balls in midfield should be a priority.

well yeah, do you not see villas high line? we did right going direct inbehind tbh. Issue was composure in mf and def and being outfought all over the pitch for opening 40 mins.

Another think points to mentality how we start games, how teams like villa come here all season and look like the home team with ambitions whilst we sit there watching va dijk sheit his pants hitting it out for throws soon as it gets to him like a prime ryan facking shawcross. wtfs happened to him, shell of his former self.

High line doesn't mean we need to hoof the ball forward.
That's why you need a technical midfielder who can receive the ball in tight spaces and play the ball through the lines. Be patient in possession and shift the opposition from one side to the another. Trent did this a few times to Diaz but he wasn't up to speed unfortunately.

good thing this has happened, might have gone into the summer thinking we were okay

Klopp’s not an idiot, I think he’ll realise his mistakes this season after being over loyal to players. I trust he will get the players we need this summer but he needs proper backing from the owners.

Mac Allister would be a great start and seems close, the noise is hard to ignore.

think we were close to being in few times cos of their high line and us going over the top. Felt we did it too often though and wasnt prepared to get a foot hold on the ball as i said vvd prefers to just instantly hit it out for throws and most the team didnt want any of the fight villa offered only fab.

I’m not that sure he has, considering Adrian is getting another contract.

Klopp is almost finished with the rebuild of the team. The most important thing this summer is to improve our rest defence structure. Often we lack numbers in defensive transitions. I want a mix of PnP and technical players in midfield who can control the game in and out of possession.

I don’t believe that until it happens, but I heard earlier Adrian is on £63k a week and that makes me feel physically sick.

The Gakpo offside goal. Was that the right call cos the commentators had no idea on the stream I was watching. If you are offside then why does the ref need to go to the screen?

posted on 20/5/23

Diaz was onside, he headed it back across goal at which point VVD was offside ahead and behind diaz the ball then hit or was cleared by a Villa player the ball fell to the offside vvd to set up gakpo. Now in this situation the goal stands if the villa players deemed to have intentionally played/defended the ball if not its offside. Its subjective so rightly its down to the ref so they sent him to the monitor. In his eyes it wasnt intentional so ruled it offside.

posted on 20/5/23

That was my take on it, took me a while to see it, i first assumed Gakpo handled it and was focusing on that. Klopp said he spoke to the ref who said it was subjective and he deemed the defender not to have intentionally played/defended the ball rather it just hit him and fell to an offside player.

posted on 20/5/23

If hes offside then why did the ref go to the screen. That's my confusion?

Brooks was the assistant ref when Klopp celebrated Infront of him in the Tottenham game. It's not clear and obvious so the goal should have stood . Howard Web is a disgrace. Why did he appoint him for this game.

Too many Manchester and Tory voting refs in this league.

cos its subjective whether or not the defender intentionally played the ball. As i said.

The VAR did their job correctly on this one, unfortunately for us.

posted on 20/5/23

Whether or not you agree with it being intentionally defended/played by the villa clearance on Diaz headed cut back idk i didnt really watch thatt bit back to form an opinion myself.

Was a horror of a referee performance to be honest.

Every 50/50 seemed to go against us, the foul on Hendo in the box was no different to the penalty they won, Mings should have been sent off, and granted it's subjective and I'm probably biased, but I don't see how swinging your foot at the ball is anything other than a deliberate attempt to play it.

Every game has been the same since the Klopp incident

I'm pretty amazed on the red card one tbh. There's obvs an element of subjectivity to all of these decisions but that is surely a red card. Has to be.

Also would be annoyed if my team had a goal disallowed for the Konsa one. We had one against Reading earlier in the season disallowed for something similar and I wasn't happy, even though we were winning comfortably.

So at least they're consistent. Consistently wrong

But it’s what needed to happen!

He’s 37, he’s on massive money and we need to rebuild and move on!

Absolutely the right decision. He had to go and we needed to move on. We also need to give Hendo the Milner role. Great player for us and hopefully he will get the Barry record.
