8 is being saved for Trent
Really hope Diaz gets back to the levels he had when he first signed for us, and at spells at the start of last season.
That injury was such a killer to then get another when he came back after the World Cup. He’s first choice LW for me personally.

he struggled when he came bk tbh but Klopp kept picking him, even dropping an in form jota if i recall.
heard he scored vs columbia the other day and had a decent game.
I’m not sure Nunez gets into our best team now but with Gakpo seemingly a better fit in that false 9 role unless Klopp plans on pushing for a number 9 again.
Not sure he can get ahead of Diaz on the left if Diaz returns to form.
If Nunez keeps himself fit over the pre season he will start as we will have about 3 forwards out injured by the time the season starts.
This guy did a good summary of how the new system suits Nunez rather than Gakpo. Maybe Gakpo as one the 8’s will work against a low block.

Nunez needs to show more to his game than being a speed merchant. He showed glimpses last season but also looked very average at times.
He deserves the massive pay day but it would be a shame to see Bobby leave Europe at his age. Has plenty to give and he’s be superb in Serie A.
Nobody gets the 8 til they prove they deserve it.

Lol not going to say anything here lest I'm accused of bias again
So if we wrap up Thuram do we think that’s the midfield done or one more incoming?
Gravenberch, Barella, Koné all still linked but I do see us finishing at Thuram and signing at CB.

Diaz stepping up to personally reimburse fans for the number change. A new low for FSG. Tea ladies will be paying for any new menu changes too no doubt.

Wow
Linked with Lavia again but I don't want another project player. Thuram effectively is a project player. Someone like Kone is someone who you can drop into our midfield now. He is ready for the next level. A 3rd midfielder is a must for me but I think we will stop at Thuram and then buy that unknown Dutch defender from Wolfsburg.
Can't see us going for another midfielder at all (assuming Thuram is done), and Lavia would cost more than we're willing to spend per player apparently.
I saw we were apparently offered and declined Ndicka earlier so it does seem we're going for a CB - guess we wait and see if anything happens with Van de Ven which seems to pop up the most
If Thuram arrives it would give us - Fabinho, Henderson, Bajcetic, Thiago, Jones, Elliott, Thuram and AMA.
I know people dispute that Elliott is a midfielder but Klopp plays him there so I think he has to count.
That would be 8 players for 3 positions so I would understand if that was it.
Personally I'd add another for a few reasons. Fabinho's form last season, let's be kind and say it was patchy. Jones' injury record isn't great, more to prove on the reliability front imo. Bajcetic's injury and age means he'll probably be eased back in. Thiago's injuries, we know they'll be some.
I reckon if Kone is available then we'll sign him. Then next summer Thiago will be allowed to leave with no replacement, Bajcetic essentially playing a more prominent role.

Paying £35m for a player none of us had heard of 6 weeks ago is being labelled as a masterstroke now. This thread is pure comedy these days.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Speak for yourself. I knew about Thuram very well and 35m for a prospect of his kind is a great deal in this age. The only comedy here is your football knowledge, or lack thereof.

Lavia is rumoured to cost 40-50m having just come out the City academy. Compared to Thuram who starts every game for Nice, a solid Ligue 1 club. As I said, the going rate for these players is high.

Crazy but true. Caicedo would cost circa £80m (apparently) and a lot of fans would welcome that - he's played 16 more EPL games than Lavia.
Young EPL talent just costs ridiculous money.

I would pretty much be happy with an entirely new midfield 3. Thiago is a great talent but so unreliable. Fabinho was so bad last year and him turning that around certainly isn’t a given. Jones and Elliot are good talents but not players I’d be starting every week (although I doubt Thuram would be an every day starter).
I think we need another top midfielder for the first team.
