I mean after Gerrard, who can you put above him in the PL era?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Nobody really. If you were looking for an argument then I think there's some validity in saying Suarez was better at his absolute peak and is arguably the better player (full career considered).

But for Liverpool specifically, Salah has been absolutely outstanding for 6 years now. Only below Gerrard imo.

Did feel quite a lot of times under Rafa we played with the handbreak on, but that was just his management style. I do feel it turned wins into draws though, and it might have made the difference in that 08/09 season. Didn't we draw 0-0 with Stoke twice.

I'll also never forget that game where he subbed Torres off and Gerrard was visibly saying "WTF??"

Could never accuse us of that under Klopp really, for better or worse.

probably because his backup was ngog

Yeah, the rest of our forwards were pretty crap really, we finally bought a decent one in Keane and we got rid of him within 6 months.

Benayoun had one good decent season. Kuyt the fans liked because he was a proper workhorse but could never beat a player to save his life.

The likes of Ngog and El Zhar as bench options were why we came up short that season.

this still psses me off, cant believe he got away with it

We had Antonio Nunez starting games. A qualified solicitor at the time, he would have been better learning how to cross a ball imo.

Rafa did get rid of Robbie Keane and then didn't replace him

Yeah he should have known the greedy yanks wouldn't replace him.

Rafa wanted David Villa apparently and H&G gave him Keane. So annoying, would have given anything to see Villa and Torres together at club level.

Rafa talent eye was elite. He also wanted David Silva and Aguero to go along with Villa and I remember us being linked to Falcao when he was at Porto who Rafa wanted but kept getting ignored.

And Mata who was a superb player back then.

Dani Alves is the one that hurt. Sevilla wanted an extra £1m or so and we weren't able to meet it despite Rafa wanting him.

Didn't he want Barry and Keane and wanted to switch the formation up

Also why we signed Reira too

Never understood why he wanted Alonso out for Barry though.

Don't forget Barry went to City and held that midfield together for the time he was there. Allowed the more flashier names to do their thing

Rafa also wanted Vidic, Simao and Jovetic. Pretty sure Turan was during Rafa days too.
