Robbo was poor yesterday but he had absolutely no help from Diaz and Gakpo.

Hopefully when we get a proper DM that worry won't be there.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm getting slightly worried that a DM is being seen as a panacea for all our issues. Covering LB so Robbo has help, covering RB so TAA isn't as exposed, dropped into CB to create 3 at the back at times - whilst also being a more physical and commanding presence in midfield to intercept/turnover and stop opposition attacks before they start.

The right answer is probably to tell Diaz/Gakpo to put a shift in and support without the ball. If Mane could do it, you can too.

I suspect Ward was let go because he wasn't up to it. He didn't exactly pull up and trees either.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
did he actually get the same amount of power as edwards? rumours at the time of leaving is that he didnt and thats why he handed in his notice
----------------------------------------------------------------------

He did a bang average job either way.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Recruitment under him was a mixed bag. He got us Diaz, Gakpo and Mac Allister, but last summer was a really poor summer for us.

Mane was so underrated for that in getting back and helping Robbo. Like Wijnaldum aswell. That left side was so under appreciated for us over the years at times, the work they put in with Van Dijk aswell at his absolute peak.

Diaz needs to get in the gym and bulk up a bit, James outmuscled him all game. Even though he did score his goal, he didn’t offer much else.

tbf james could probably out muscle most wingers

It's not so much that the DM will help Robbo, but more that Mac/Jones/Dom/whoever plays LCM will help out more than someone like Gakpo.

Do agree on Diaz though, Mane was excellent defensively and he needs to add that to his game.

True but Diaz is much much weaker than Mane was.

Mane was the only guy who could handle Adama when he had this purple patch. No shock that Robbo defensive deficiencies are being noticed since his departure.

Robbo has definitely regressed. Another one who might be slowly burning out from the amount of games we’ve played and the intensity we’ve played over the last few years? That’s more on Klopp though for rotation tbh.

Talk of there being a medical booked for Lavia tomorrow and a £60m fee agreed.

Only in football can you lose 10-15m just like that and its brushed under the carpet.

TOOR of course still thinks running a football club is like running a corner shop.

Supposedly we've enquired for Tchouameni and Valverde.

Can't see us getting either regardless but going after Valverde makes no sense unless we'd still have £50m+ for a DM

Just watch a highlights reel of AMA and his passing, for the most part was superb. Passed early, manipulated the ball, broke lines.

Was picking it up far too deep though imo. For all the lack of a DM hurts us defensively, I feel it hurts us going forward too.

Both started for RM at the weekend, they played the diamond:

========Tchou========
Valverde======Camavinga
======Bellingham=======

Feels like they're finally moving on from the Modric era, can't see why they'd sell us either of those players. Or why either player would leave a starting place at RM for us.

That is one hell of a midfield…

No chance they’d leave Real for us if they are starting.

Kepa has gone to RM! Didn’t know that was happening.

In terms of draft league I’ve now gone from having the reserve palace and reserve Brighton keepers to having first choice from Utd and Chelsea.

I’ve lost interest in the draft league already. Had no idea everyone could still transfer players after the initial draft, so all a farce.

DDG is better than Kepa so that's an odd one
