I don't think the FA said players should show less emotion? I think they said players will be booked for being aggressive and/or abusive towards the match officials. This is already part of the laws but never enforced, only in the most extreme circumstances and yes I agree with it.
Referees have a difficult job and screaming at them doesn't change the decision. I'd say it would only make the officials more nervous and more likely to get things wrong or worse, have a score to settle with the player. Referees are human too and not paid to take abuse from them.

Also it's quite unbelievable how everybody reads ME's letter and thinks "case closed".
I don't think there was this big dramatic unfolding of events but I do agree with others that Edwards disagreed with the direction the club was taking. The timing of that and the Henderson deal speaks volumes.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Go on Fred, tell us why it's unbelievable why people would read Edwards' letter and say case closed?
When I read that he wants to send a letter to the fans to stop conspiracy theories(it didn't work of course as conspiracy theorists are nuts) explaining he decision to leave which included "I had always planned to leave before ten years"(he was at the club ten years), detailing his reasons for that plan, it kind of was case closed for me. Of course unbeknownst to me was that we'd have a poor season and people would create a conspiracy theory anyhow.
I liken it to the Archeburg conspiracy. Awful, our goalkeepers are crap because the coach is crap. Then we sell the crap goalkeepers, Allison comes in, improves, gets all sorts of awards and the conspiracy dies down. Even Klopp stating how good he is didn't work for these people.
People always must look for alternative reasons, disregarding the actual things that happened.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Because even if there was a fall out, he was never going to admit it in a letter to fans published on the club's website.
Why did he leave when he chose to then? He talks about staying at clubs for less than 10 years but was at LFC for a 11 and a half Spurs for 2 and Portsmouth for 6. Why the sudden compulsion to change?
As I said, I doubt there was some big dramatic showdown that caused him to leave but reading his letter and accepting every word at face value is just naïve.
Because even if there was a fall out, he was never going to admit it in a letter to fans published on the club's website.
=====
Don't be a genius Fred, if there was a fallout then why bother doing the letter in the first place. Why lie to the fans and go through all that just to help out the club which you fell out with in he first place?
It's you that's being naive and actually ignoring logic so you can be negative.

Oh Fred.
He left those clubs to go to bigger clubs for bigger roles. He had seen his career progressively get better by leaving and many professionals in high positions have this view that you should always look to move to progress your career. It worked for him so why would he change it? Your view that he changed his outlook is the complete opposite to what happened, he kept his view, hence why he kept moving.
He probably wouldn't have admitted it, correct but he certainly wouldn't have wrote the letter giving his reasons with such honesty and glowing references for those that he worked with.
It is not naive to accept that something somebody spent time pouring their heart into is their honest opinion. It is however ridiculous to rubbish his letter, claim and conspiracy and back that up with, 'he wouldn't tell the truth anyway', 'the truth will come out later, 'he left because there was a big change in direction', despite there being no obvious change of direction that anybody can tell.
1. We signed players for a lot of money for the first team.
2. We did smart business by selling players to offset it, whilst making small tweaks every season.
3. The one time we lost a player we didn't want to lose, we invested it back into the club.
4. The club won a load of trophies
5. The players aged, notably in attack and then midfield.
Step one began again last season, or you could say, the January before when Diaz came in early as Spurs were about to sign him.
Where is the dramatic change that occurred? Who made this up and what do they have to back it up? Why did they make this up when Edwards stated his reasons and specifically wanted to squash any rumours?

So what is the disagreement over direction?
What changed and why did Edwards disagree?
Who did he disagree with?
Surely he was in charge of the direction?
The only people who could force him to change direction are those he reports to. So FSG told him to change direction despite not knowing anything about football?
Who stated this happened?
Where did they get this from?
I mean there must be answers to these questions, for people to believe it over what actually happened and what Edwards actually stated. Surely? Or is it just the standard conspiracy, confirmation bias, ridiculous claims, backed up by bogus links to other conspiracy theorists, head in the sand to the actual facts, claim you will all see in time, move on to the next before it is shown to be incorrect?

Well I mean they have replays to increase the success rate for this exact reason. If they removed the clear and obvious thing, the VAR can state it comes down to interpretation and perhaps wasn't as bad as you think. At which point the referee can watch again and decide. It it's simply an incorrect decision the VAR decides.

Which part hurt your tiny brain trying to understand?
To address that Edwards letter - no idea where that conversation got to aside from the inevitable insults I'm sure were sent my way
For the sake of any relationship you have within a business that you leave, leaving on good footing is always the best way to go. Somebody with the career like Mike Edwards was always going to, at least on the very outside, leave on good footing.
I think the comparison between the way the club acted with Wijnaldum and the way they acted with Henderson a couple of years later showed that they deviated from the plan that had suited us well.
It's well documented that had it been up to Klopp, Wijnaldum would have stayed and re-signed a new contract but Mike Edwards and Gordon said no.
For Henderson, we went with Klopp's decision and not with Edwards who didn't want to see the squad continue to age - again all of this is quite well documented.
Henderson signed a new contract in the August of 2021, Edwards announced his departure 3 months later.
Again, I think everybody left on good terms, but it was fairly clear Klopp was getting more power at the club, there was a change in direction, and Edwards chose to leave.
I'm convinced there was more to his departure than just what was written in his letter. Again, not some major conspiracy or hidden big argument but the timings just align all too well.
I just think the club chose to listen more to Klopp over our sporting director on matters that should have sat with the sporting director, and he chose to move on as a result.
