I always wondered why teams never focus on strengthening where they are weakest
Not just Liverpool
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We're weakest in midfield. We have two backup centre backs that would walk into the first team of most teams in the league.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No they don't
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes but I don't count your opinion as it's always nonsense.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You are just chatting sheet for the sake of it
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Nope. I literally stated midfield is the priority. It's the priority because it's weakest. It's the weakest because we lost two first team players, both players who can play in the 6 role.
We have our two first choice centre backs available, none were sold. It is not a priority and whether you agree the two backups would walk into most teams in the league or not(they would) they are very capable backs. Ideally we'd replace Matip as he isn't quick enough in the current system, hence why he lost his place after having a great season previous. However a backup centre back is not the priority, a first team midfielder is clearly the priority.
Anybody who thinks differently is in Gash land of stupidity.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Midfield was priority was last summer and we paid for it.
The summer before we needed a forward and didn't address it until Jan which cost us the title
This summer we need a CB. Matip is on his last legs while Gomez is backup right back at best. One injury to Konate and its falls apart.
You can continue being blinkered.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No it wasn't. We had nine midfielders. The manager literally stated it.
The priority last summer was replacing the aging forward line, which is why we replaced the aging forward line with Nunez and then Gakpo in January.
This summer the priority is replacing the midfield, we lost two first team midfielders.
Your mind works in really strange ways.
should have been the priority
Reports of Man United to have enquired about Andre and found out we agreed personal terms.
We better have a pre agreement with his club before Boehly coming in and tabling a bid..
Tbf, for the club, midfield demonstrably wasn't the priority last season.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
No, it literally shouldn't. Otherwise we would have had two attackers for most of the season.
The priority should have been selling Ox and Keita when they weren't performing and kept getting injured, even at reduced fees and then yes, it could have been a priority to replace them. As it happened, they still played for the club. You can't prioritise positions where you have players over positions you don't have players. That's ridiculous.

152k for Gravenberch. Can probably see why the deal hasn't been done as yet
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Bayern pay stupid wages at times
----------------------------------------------------------------------
They got him for pennies though at the time so prob wasn't bothered about high wages increasing the total cost of the deal.
Clubs don't and should have to wait until players they want to replace are off the books. Thats a stupid way to run a football club that will leave u in the kind of trouble we are in now, when your targets dont want to join you and you sell a few more because well a deal/opportunity arises out of nowhere...
Its poor planning as ive said before, reactionary stuff when its better to be proactive.

No - that's a smart way to run a football club for people who understand how to run a football club, like the people running Liverpool, who have been heavily praised by everyone outside of the wristslitters for competing for and winning multiple trophies, against oil clubs.
Although it's easy to say in hindsight it was poor planning to allow Keita and Ox to see out their contracts when replacements could have been got if they were sold, even on reduced fees.
