Straight to penalties with no extra time, right? I didn't see the games yday
Think we will go strong today.

I'd hope so too. When you're in the quarters and the other semi teams are 10th & 11th in the EPL and a championship team then it simply has to be seen as a great opportunity for a trophy.
On paper (league positions) at least, West Ham are the toughest side left in the draw for us.
I remember when we won it last time in the QF Klopp went with kids and we were 3-1 down at HT. We had to bring on the big guns to turn it around. This time there should be no reason to play kids. Players have been rotated in Europe so are fresh for the Xmas period.
West Ham will come in strong too I reckon.
I want rotation. Arsenal game is light years more important than this cup game.
We tried rotation before United game and it did not work.
There is definitely an argument that some players need to play themselves back into form. We've looked a little disjointed recently, which is understandable given how many new players we're integrating, but I'm not sure that's solved by high levels of rotation.

I don't know how anyone can say something like that. Doesn't make sense to me but I digress.

Well on a basic level it's difficult to argue with, both the performance and result against Utd were disappointing. Ultimately we dropped 2 points.
I assume your wider point is that the benefits of rotation are felt towards the back end of the season when players are still (relatively) fresh and therefore we won't know if rotation has worked until further down the track?
If so, it's a fair point. But if we're honest our performances over the last 6 games or so haven't been great. It's a balance of needing to keep the squad fresh for the long season and getting back a bit of cohesion to our play.
Personally I'd always favour a consistency to selection when searching for form. You rotate a team playing well imo.
Well it's not a definitive statement, but a lot of the team were all off-form, seems reasonable to speculate that a midweek game may have meant we were more ready or sharper for Utd
Haha, explained more eloquently by Naby
Yeah I said before the Union game, perhaps we should not rotate and try to find some rhythm?
With the games so close together at this time of year you get less time on the training pitch too and I can’t remember the last time we named an unchanged side (although there may well be one).
I mean you get five subs now fwiw. I’d rotate using the subs rather than the starting line atm but we will see.
There won't be much focus in training on tactics tbh...most of will be recovery.
2 days for recovery is standard across football then 3rd day is game day. All analysis of the opposition will be videos. Hardly any time to practice on the pitch
Hope for a better performance from our forwards tonight, whoever is playing.

Yep, so I’d not be against the starting line up for Arsenal starting for example and then making changes to keep fresh legs on the hour.
Tricky though. I think he’ll make wholesale changes

You take one part of my post of decide to only respond to that?! Come on.
I never said we tried and failed rotation because of Utd. Didn't even hint at that.
For absolutely clarity, I completely understand and support the need for rotation. It's essential these days with the volume and intensity of matches. But the degree to which you rotate and the timing of that rotation is context specific.
Right now I believe we need continuity more than we need rest. I think our last half a dozen games have shown that the team is struggling a little and I believe that consistency in selection helps that.
If you disagree then I'd be interested to hear why.
