At the moment?

More like a few seasons now...we also tend to rush some back when the pressure is on too

The silver lining from yesterday’s game is that United fans seem to think Ten Hag is the second coming of Fergie all of a sudden

That’ll last….

It's been a bit ridiculous. Watching the game it didn't feel like a classic to me and It didn't look like we even played out of our skin. Was a bit surprised by their reaction after the game.

Being a Liverpool fan it feels like I see games like that regularly. They must be starved of the good stuff as they're over the moon.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm not sure we do see games like that all the time if I'm honest, not with the context of this one anyway.

Firstly, the FA Cup is their season - there's little else to hope for beyond top 4 qualification which is unlikely.

Secondly, we're much better than them. Much better. To see your main rivals are significantly better always adds an element of backs against the wall. We've not been in that position with Utd for a decade now. We used to be, no doubt about it, but not for a while.

Thirdly, they would have felt it wasn't their day for much of that match. We dominated large periods but two of our goals were pretty large deflections and then Rashford missed an absolute sitter at the end of normal time.

And last minute goals always add that extra but of euphoria. There's something special about a last gasp winner.

All things considered, I can totally understand why they're over the moon. If we'd pulled off that result in the mid-90's when we were finishing 6th and a mile off the pace, we'd have been the same.

It was their day, they're right to celebrate. I just hope we're celebrating a Europa League and EPL title come the end of the season...

Jota has been spotted at AXA doing some running today.

Hopefully that means he'll be good to go after the international break.

Kobe Mainoo called up to the England squad after a few good games/weeks yet no Elliott, Jones or Quansah. I know jones is injured but has been good for a while now. Make it make sense.

posted on 19/3/24

He’s clearly an exceptional footballer who can play at 6 while the other two can’t?

posted on 19/3/24

Jones would have been called up had it not been the injury.

Elliott is competing with loads of attacking midfielders

Quansah is ready for England.

I feel I must be a bit of a footballing idiot when it comes to Mainoo because I don't see the mass hype to be honest.

He's good for his age but he's getting spoken about like he's a generational talent and I can't quite work out why.

Maybe I just need to watch more United games....

posted on 19/3/24

Yeah I'd say they're working on getting him secured for England so that he doesn't play for Ghana instead.

He looks good but was done after 30 mins against us. He was chasing shadows until he got subbed off. He needs to work on his engine which will get better as he gets older. He is not ready for England yet but its Southgate.

This is a very good point.

Marino has real class though, Thiago vibes

Hmm would he really have join ghana cos he didnt get in the squad at 18, thats normally something that comes up years later when they 100% fail to be good enough.. think its just southgate being southgate

better as an 8

jorginho stays deep if hes playing, lose some of rice's ability if you dont let him progress up the field imo

----------------------------------------------------------------------

I mean I’d play him there for England with Bellingham and Foden, but he’s a B2B midfielder who has a goal in him. If Bellingham got injured or banned we’d need another. I’d rather sh!t in my hands and clap than play Phillips so that leaves Hendo.

I can see why Southgate would take a look at Maimonides, and I like a wild card selection anyway.

Yeah makes sense. Curtis would also be a useful option in that position and at a push, I guess Stones too

Rice would struggle having 2 attacking midfielders who play as forwards for their clubs. He is going to need a partner who can sit next to him. Possibly Trent.

posted on 19/3/24

I mean Trent on paper is fine but I’m yet to see him have a good game for England and he’s played about 2 games there ever in his adult lifetime.

That’s why Hendo still makes the squad I reckon.

Hargreaves for the limited time he had before the injuries.
