Perhaps Klopp should be starting games more cautiously then because we clearly can't attack or defend in the first 15 minutes
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Perhaps. Not sure that there's a slider you can slide along after fifteen minutes which makes this happen however.

When you define last 20 is it 70 minutes onwards or is it 20 minutes from the end of the game which is actually around 80 minutes onwards.

If it’s the former which I’d say it probably is, with the amount of added time this season, I’d suggest most teams concede disproportionately more in the final 20 minutes of games.

My team for Palace would be:

---------------------Kel
Bradley----Ibou--------VVD-----Robbo
---Trent(60)--------Endo------Mac
------Salah------Jota(60)------Diaz

Trent just isn’t going to be in midfield is he. That won’t happen under Klopp.

It’ll likely be Szoboszlai ahead of Trent and Nunez or Gakpo ahead of Jota.

If Gomez starts then I give up.

We need more creativity and control which Trent brings. Dom's confidence is shot while Jones still looks unfit and is back to holding onto the ball forever.

Gomez experiment needs to be put down. He is a decent left back but never plays well at RB or CB.

Jota looked sharp and rusty yesterday but he has to start.

Trent will not be playing in midfield under Klopp.

I’d start him though, and Jota.

27% of our goals conceded are in the final 20 minutes. 13% in the first ten which means of course 87% not in the first ten.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
https://www.soccerstats.com/timing.asp?league=england

First 15 minutes vs last 15 minutes is the same according to this, 6 each time.

2 scored in the first 15 minutes by us is horrendous as well, we are undeniably starting games in shiitt fashion.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Interesting stats. We're conceding in a relatively even way, more than I expected with a split of 16 first half and 14 second half.

The huge disparity is goals scored in the first 15 mins v's last 15 mins. Which aligns with the eye test as well, we struggle to get our foot on the ball and control the game in the first 15 mins.

You would imagine every opposition manager is in the dressing room saying, they're slow starters so fly out of the traps. Perhaps (to TOORs point) we need to dial back on the high risk football and just play possession for 10 mins at the start, kill a bit of the opposition spirit and then go back to normal.

I don't think Trent will be going straight in but agree with the rest. I'd play Elliott instead of him. I also agree it's time for him in midfield, with the way Bradley has been playing.

If fit to start Trent goes in at RB imo. Bradley's started 7 in a row plus cup games, he needs a break I'd say.

I think we'll go back to Endo, Szobo and AMA in midfield; Salah, Gakpo, Diaz up front. Jota will get another 30 mins I reckon.

I just hope Alisson's back. Kelleher's done well but I think Ali only concedes 1 of those from last night.

Yes I don't think it's a defensive thing first fifteen, we give up chances throughout the game. However and I'm not sure if the stats back this up but we appear to start games really slowly, our passing is off, we're a bit too quick to hit the attackers with no patience.

Would be better if we controlled games to begin with but that's not really our game.

Hopefully get that clinical Jota edge. Getting fed up of seeing Nunez spurn chance after chance. I feel his profligacy rubs off on other players too.

We have to be taking our chances given how many we give up at the other end, otherwise its game over for this season.

I'm all for backing Nunez and he has deserved it most of the season but he has definitely entered a period of poor form. Perhaps the lack of a player pushing him with Jota being out and Gakpo being poor has had an impact. Either way he needs a wee kick, starting by being dropped for the next game.

Yeah, I’m getting a bit fed up of the Gomez project. It’s not that he does much wrong, he’s just pretty limited on what he offers. Solid as a stand in, but becoming an attacking burden when starting so many games.

This is when we realise just how good Trent is, even Bradley is miles behind him if we’re being honest.

Well I mean he has 17 goals and 12 assists so far and is getting better. I'd expect he finishes with around 25 and 15. Doesn't mean he doesn't need to improve of course but he's certainly on the right track for a player of his age.

Ropey league stat padding though.

11 PL goals is not great.

Wasn’t an issue when he was playing so well not that long ago. Funny how stats can be manipulated to suit….

We score more goals and win more games when he plays. It’s not even close either.

I see the Gomez redemption arc is in the bin. Only took three games.

Come on Kash, we all know that come the summer you’ll be far too busy hammering the owners to worry about Nunez

Seriously, the guy has all the tools you could want in a forward and he’s been better this year than last. If he doesn’t improve again next year, maybe it’s time to question. But while his talent is obvious and he’s going in the right directly, that’s good enough for me.

I wouldn’t go that far. I don’t think it’s unfair to suggest that he’s limited in an attacking sense. Teams just let him shoot because they know he’s not going to score and that it signals the end of an attack whilst the ball is being retrieved from row Z.

Not sure my wingman Titty has gone missing. It's funny a few weeks a go I was struggling to think where we need new players but now we need to look at defence, midfield and attack.

For me if they get the manager situation right, I don't care about players.
