It's only the one season where I can recall we genuinely chased all four trophies

So what happened when we tried to win all four annd failed every other season?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You’re being very deliberately obtuse again here.

I’m really not.

I mean every other year it’s not about Klopps announcement but this year it is? Really?

I mean fine, go for it, but it’s seems a massive reach to me.

Two years ago? I’m not sure how that alters the point anyway.

How can every single year ever under Klopp where we’ve failed to win four trophies not be in the conversation, but now suddenly it is?

Nah, not for me. It’s like the crowd thing? Again, nonsense imo.

It’s simply just football being football imo.

I think it’s really odd to dismiss the idea of Klopp leaving eventually having a detrimental effect on the team. I think Fred just about has it right, it galvanised the team initially but later on started wearing them down. It’s human nature.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I’m not dismissing it, I’m just asking what it’s actually based on.

If you look at the actual games I don’t think it’s based on anything at all? Did we run less? Did we create less chances? Did we concede less chances? Did we have less possession?

The answer to all of those questions is “No”.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Just use your eyes. If you didn’t notice a change when most seemingly have done, then maybe you just don’t get it….

I'm pretty sure someone from the team alluded to winning everything for Klopp this season

posted on 2/5/24

I just can't remember the player or the interview

posted on 2/5/24

Well yeah, that’s what they and all of us would like, doesn’t alter the fact that no team ever in English history has managed though, does it?

As said, it’s a massive reach imo.

The sample size is very small but Fergie's initial announcement of retiring saw a negative impact on the team. I think he's even said in interviews that it was a mistake.

When Wenger announced he was leaving Arsenal finished lower than they ever had before under him.

I don't really know why it's a 'thing' but it seems to be one. At the very least I'd say it's definitely a distraction.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Having worked in several teams where the boss is either leaving or clearly demotivated to the point they are phoning it in, I would definitely say it negatively impacts the performance of the wider team.

Obviously I'm worlds away from being a professional footballer but just my experience.

Just so I’m clear here, are we suggesting that had Klopp not announced he was retiring we’d have cleaned up or something?

If you can’t see that this season has meant more to the players than other seasons then you clearly have zero emotional intelligence and this whole topic is lost on you.

Not everything is measured in statistics.

Okay.

So are we saying that we would have won more if Klopp had not announced he was leaving then?

Not at all. I don’t think we’d have been as close to winning the league for example as we have been under Klopp. Emotion carried us into a title fight and we simply ran out of steam.

The variable is not Klopp's announcement. That's already been done.

It's winning or losing that you should looking at in terms of what could've been.

Unless you weighting it as a 100% fact that no-one will ever do the quad in like forever

You’re not making the point you think you are here.

Do you not think the fact that we absolutely fell apart after the FA Cup loss to United may show how much it all meant to the players? Heads dropped faster than I’ve ever seen after that game.

This has not happened before in any season that I can recall.

The pressure of doing it for Klopp got to us in the end. Klopps last dance, the farewell tour, the stupid documentary. There is no way we lose to Atalanta in a normal season.
