Gakpo with Diaz game time gets a better G/A for me.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Hard to call for me. Gakpo is a better finisher and poacher no doubt, but he doesn't create space on the pitch the same way Diaz does with his pace and dribbling, so the whole team might suffer as a result.

He creates space with his movement and he also likes to run at pace with the ball from midfield. He is more direct about it than Diaz, who sometimes is the proverbial players that will be at the defender then pull the ball back so they can beat the defender agam.

Diaz dribbles sideways lol starts 1v1 vs the oppo rb ends up 1v2 vs oppo rb and lb on the opposite side of the pitch.

Crazy how much of your career you can miss through unwanted injuries

Diaz availability was very impressive last season. He is still our best dribbler but can he be coached into a more impacting player is the question. Let's see what the manager thinks.

I think an attacker can often benefit from coming off the bench as a fresh player against defenders who have played an hour of intense football and are often slightly mentally and physically drained. Not spent obviously, these are professional athletes, but not what they were at the start of the game. And it takes huge concentration to defend against a team like us.

Diaz starts most games, Gakpo more often comes from the bench. I don’t think as simple as saying Gakpo does better with Diaz’s minutes.

It can happen, but I feel it's more the exception rather than the rule. How many players in football manage to make a name for themselves off the bench? There's probably some, but it's not the norm. Players even leave clubs to get regular game time because you need regular game time to improve and actually show what you got.

So Rooney now also ends the great debate by putting Stevie at number 1. Case is definitely closed.

Agreed, also because Gakpo can finish better

Klopp on top form at the event last night:

You leave this club having won the Premier League once,” Bishop said. “There could be a court decision that means you’ve won the Premier League three times…” Klopp interrupted: “If you organise a bus parade, I’m in! How long it takes I don’t care.”

“Can you imagine LFC as the club with unlimited money?” said Klopp. “Imagine Kylian Mbappé came here. Imagine Bellingham came here, Haaland. It is not us, it just does not fit. We won what we won and we did it the Liverpool way. We had hard conversations and other clubs didn’t do that in the same time.

We should be really happy that we have these owners and not guys who bought London clubs and other stuff. I wouldn’t have survived a year at Liverpool (with them in charge). ‘Great development but not good enough, sack him!’ A year later: ‘Sack him’. Then finally they play football where people think they might be back and they sack the manager anyway. People always think the grass is greener but we have owners who really feel responsible for the club and work really hard as well to be successful. I felt supported. We did it as good as we could have done and I’m fine with it.

In what could also be viewed as a dig at Manchester United’s treatment of Jadon Sancho, Klopp said it was a manager’s responsibility to stand by a struggling player. He added: “If the whole world loses trust and faith in the player then the manager has to be the one behind the player. I cannot just buy into that ‘he’s useless’ stuff like other clubs did by the way. Buying a player for £80m and then sending him out on loan!”

I love it. Pretty sure I nearly had Winston crying there, he’s already waffling about context.

Yeah Winston is pretty clueless about most things but on this topic he embarrasses himself more than normally would.
