So if Kelleher wants out who in the prem need him? Brentford? Flekkens sheit. Brighton both their gks are sheit? Bournemouth need an upg on their keeper. Forest love a gk and were inerested before as were palace who settled on paying 15m for dean facking henderson didnt they?
cash + kelleher for toney?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Chelsea could be an option tbh. Depending on whether the new manager rates Sanchez/Petrovic.
Brighton seems like a good fit. There seems to be noise that Everton might cash in on Pickford; Kelleher would be a great replacement for them.
PSG sniffing around Konate apparently.
Love him as a player and enjoy seeing that clip of him beating Vinicius Jr every time they had a one on one, on his day he's world class. That said he only managed 2,588 minutes last season which is equivalent to 29 full 90s. I wouldn't sell though
Selling Konate will be a mistake as we already need to replace Matip and Gomez has shown that he is more of a full back than CB.

There not much inbetween donkey or a monster with him is there? hes never a solid average with him. I do think we've seen far more good than bad with him though. My biggest issue is injuries.
Apparently we looking at some 18 yr old cb from Lille? Leny Yoro?
Lot of clubs looking at him tbf wouldn't be surprised if he ended up at PSG
I could count Konate’s actual bad games (I mean the real bad ones, not the misplaced a few passes so gets a ‘FFS KONATE’ on the match thread) on one hand I reckon.
All very well saying there’s no in between with his performances but I feel that’s probably more pertinent when levelled at some of our fan base.

Same i dont remember too many bad games from him but hes had them, but outside them hes usually been good. I don't recall many average middle ground though. Then theres all the time he misses through injury which he seems to have a lot of.

Yeah that fair imo, although injuries don’t seem to bother me as much as others.
I’m still more than hopeful that a good amount of our injuries, mainly hamstrings and thighs, will clear up now but we’ll see. I’d certainly not be selling him.
some players are just made of stronger stuff, vvd tthat horror tackle aside absolute machine. Mane salah etc too. Trents started picking up injuries esp since putting on muscle. Robbos had a few unfortunate shoulder injuries but hes usually always available too? Its clear with us who just cant be relied on to be fit for a full season.
Big shock was Gomez last season but it took him what 8/9 years with us to have a relatively injury free season.
Wijnaldum was another then he left and suffered a horrible leg break

Injuries generally seem to bother me less than most as well, as long as someone isn't an absolute Keita/Sturridge'esk sick-note then I just consider them part of the ups and downs of a season.
CB is my exception though. I've always thought that stability and consistency with a CB partnership is so important. Unfortunately we've not had that for years with Matip, Gomez and Konate all having injury issues.
Fingers crossed Quansah is durable like VVD
reminds me of matip more than vvd
We definitely need a CB, with or without Konate leaving

To be fair I don't think Gomez is actually all that injury prone in the traditional sense as most of his injuries have been outside of his control.
From memory he broke his ankle after a bad tackle and did his knee twice. Can't think of too many muscle injuries.
I still think Quansah is our VVQ in waiting. He's found himself next to Van Dijk so has been playing the Matip role next to him...but I can definitely see him developing further and maybe more into the mould of Van Dijk.
Will save us minimum 50 odd million if he does so.
If Branthwaite wasn’t at Everton, who would rather give him away to United than sell him to us, then he would be my choice as Quantip’s partner going forward for sure.
One problem with Quansah and VVD partnering was that it lacked aggression. Both are quite passive but in truth you need the good cop and bad cop in the partnership.
Look at Saliba and Gabriel. Saliba is the relaxed one while Gabriel is the aggressive one and this works really well. Konate is our aggressive CB. He will win the ball in unusual areas. The Xhaka crunching tackle plus more. This is what we need Quansah to do if he partners VVD.
True.
It was great having Matip, Gomez & Konate as partners to Van Dijk...they all kinda complemented him...or he complemented them but they all brought their own style to the setup and when on form the setup never suffered.
Matip never stepped out as much to attack the ball. Sure he'll step out and win his headers. He was very good in 1v1s and we all know about his ball carrying skills...but he'll rarely step out and attack the ball on the ground. That's where Konate and Gomez steps in...but even then they both did it differently. Konate would step out and tackle...whereas Gomez would step out and intercept. Gomez playing the ball on the floor and breaking the lines is honestly up there with some of the best in the league. Konate ain't that bad but not exactly excelling at it but then Gomez being dragged out wide is a nightmare every time...whereas Konate looks his best covering that channel.
Too bad all 3 of them could never stay fit for whatever reasons.
Gomez & Van Dijk is still statistically our best defensive partnership and was on course to beat Chelsea & Mou's goals against record in our title winning season. Facking covid
Being linked with Mbuemo today.
Not convinced he will become a top player at this stage but we could certainly do worse.
