Except for the fact that the vast majority of the players in the competition play in European winter leagues....
Well ACON is on this season coming so we will lose Bony if we sign him.
Yes and the way to even out European dominance is clearly to make more rules in favour of Europe.
That would really help

I'm not sure it would.
As a European football fan why would I want to see European dominance broken and as a world football fan what difference would it make if the ACON took part at the same time as either the Copa America or Euros and was played every 4 years rather than every 2?

January is obviously thought of as the best time logistically for Africa to hold its own continents tournament.
I find the fact the fact they haven't bowed down to Europe or elsewhere to change it as a good thing, not a bad one.
God I hope we dont get bertrand
Good article Loco. Quite an interesting read.
We don't seem to be linked with any established quality at the moment unless I'm mistaken?
Markovic and Origi are young potential, Bertrand and Davies aren't up to the standard we need in my eyes. Caulker I'd be tempted but I think we need a first choice centre back to partner Sakho so spending a bit more would be wise.
Alexis to arsenal confirmed
Markovic is going to be a world star

Then barca or madrid will buy him and around we go again.
Credit to Arsenal, they have actually managed to sign a good player for once before the last week in August.
Latest link for us is Serge Aurier, who was thought to be Arsenal bound but they have moved on to Debuchy...

Quality signing for arsenal and we would have been made up with that!
Gutted about Sanchez joining Arsenal.
It was a signing I really wanted us to make. We need to sign somebody of his calibre to replace Suarez otherwise that's an enormous gap in the squad.
We can't replace Suarez with Lallana, Lambert and Markovicz.
Can if we play all three in place of Suarez.
Aurier looked good going forward but could not defend to save his life. What happened to that USA RB we were gonna trial?
13 players! I like the sound of that...
I dont belive these Bony rumours. Spurs have yet to declare interest.
In all honesty who could we bring in who's better than bony?
Martinez? Untested at premier league level and couldn't get a start for Colombia in the World Cup!
Higuain? Would cost an absolute bástard fortune and he's only been at Napoli 12 months!
Exactly KLS, if you are talking about out and out goalscorers I don't see anyone likely to be better than Bony who we could sign.
We could go for attacking midfielders like Reus, Draxler, Di Maria but there would be big question marks over whether any of those would actually be achievable. They are all already at big clubs who play regular CL football and we have only just got back in it.
The same goes for all the dreamers talking about Hummels and the like.
Bonys not bad, but hes no sanchez, well in my opinion anyway would prefer a top cb
Im not against Bony....like i said the market isnt really all that at the moment.
Also everyone thinking just because we now have CL, every player and their dog will want to sign for us.
1) We're not going to offer City/Chelsea type wages, so we arent going to sign established stars.
2) Spurs only really signed VDV when they broke into the CL, we'll be lucky if someone of that ilk becomes available.
Our best hope is signing solid players to consolidate out Top4 place. May only concern is i've rarely seen a player signed from a midtable team in this league and go on to make a big impact at a club higher up the table. Especially in recent times. I'll also state that our style of play was unique last season and finding players to suit that style especially from within the league is going to be difficult.
Its all ifs and buts at the moment.
