The reason Slot tries to play both fullbacks centrally is to drag the wingers of the opposition out of position and create a free passing lane to Salah or Diaz and have them in a 1v1 with the fullback.

O' Neil is the first attacking manager (Nuno doesn't count)who had a solution for this. He played two wingers in a free role and had their midfielders blocking the passing option to our wingers. I like him as a manager and hopefully he gets a chance at a West Ham level club.

The thing is we’ve won when playing well and won when playing badly, I think it’s a great sign tbh. We won’t always click but at least we can grind out victories when we need it. Forest was such a strange blip

Bit off topic but did anyone see the Chelsea v Brighton game on motd last night. That was some of the most ridiculous defending I’ve ever seen from Brighton.

For those who missed it, they were basically playing how Spurs did when they went down to 9 men against Chelsea last season, playing offside on the half way line no matter where Chelsea had the ball in possession. One simple pass and timed run in behind and they had 2 on 1 with the keeper on multiple occasions. They are gonna get absolutely battered by the top teams if they keep playing like that.

Talk about playing into the oppositions hands. We know Chelsea have struggled against deeper sitting defences. Pretty dreadful tactics from the Brighton manager .

Ugarte is absolute dogshte in the games i have seen him for United. Slow on the turn when receiving the ball and is atrocious in possession. He can't even make a 5 yard pass.

That's why we need a complete player in the 6 position.
