2018 was different, just the feeling about everything regarding the club, you knew we were onto something.

I doubt we go big unless our calculated risks give us that same feeling again.

And yeah I know I'm not just talking about Nunez out, Isak in. The contract stuff is still up in the air and if we lose those 3 then you know it's a complete rebuild again.

If we can somehow replicate 2015-2017 in terms of transfers, then I'll be confident in the expected rebuild but we just feel too risk adverse these days

I'd say if they thought they could get him for £150m they'd pay it. You'd likely still get £40-50m for Nunez to go towards it.

We won't fork 150m when we also need to address other areas too. We will probably look at Pedro at Brighton or Cunya and hope to make them as good as Isak. Pedro will cost 70-80m himself though.

I don’t think it’d be £150m tbh, prob near £100m and a lot depends on Newcastle getting CL I reckon.

We love a failed massive bid anyway so may as well try.

What do you all make of Elliott exit rumours. He is not getting game time but surely we won't weaken ourselves with a midfielder loaned/sold in Jan.

Not been given much minutes from Slot though.

Isak is too expensive imo. Not sure any club would pay the quoted £150m for a player.

His contract runs to 2028 so my guess would be he stays put this summer and moves for circa £100m in 2026 - when he's got 2 yrs left.

I wouldn't be surprised if he's thinking about other options with the limited game time he's been receiving. Hopefully not as he's a huge talent and personally if he were to be sold it would take a huge offer.

I don’t like it one bit, and not sure if I deluding myself, but I’d be very surprised if we a) let him go b) he wanted to go.

Maybe I’m wrong though, he’d absolutely murder it in the Bundesliga too I reckon.

Not read the book myself but I saw someone on Twitter mention the other day that Ian Graham's book said that when we decided to go for a more traditional number 9, the choice was between Isak, Nunez and one other (can't remember who the third was).

They felt Isak would allow for the least transition of style but the coaching staff believed Nunez would score more goals, especially after the Benfica games we played against them.

Not saying that to criticise the coaches, just goes to show the lottery transfers can be.

Chelsea are probably going to be in some bother. Is it worth looking at Nkunku? I like him, injuries seems to have cleared up a touch, albeit when not playing.

He ticks all the boxes and is as close to a guaranteed success as you’re likely to get, but I just can’t see us spending that on one player, it’s a huge amount. Especially if we sign the guy from Napoli.

Though the caveat is that we haven’t spent much for a while so could have a big ‘war chest’ and our wage bill could be about to be reduced rather a lot…,

yeah i like Elliott and remember when Dom was out of form we all wished he was fit.

Only thing with Slot is that he is very big on players being strong and physical. You can see that in the training drills and Elliott does lack that to go with his lack of pace.
