Bet MUDD is delighted Arsenal won a cup. He's has been obsessed by us for some time.
I was quite pleased for you, it had been too long ffs and you almost fluffed it.
You still have not won the league in a decade though
------
well we won in 10 years ago which is the timespan of a decade I see what you were trying though, unfortunately for you our fans are unwummable at the moment though
Yeah, well. It won't be the Arsenal way if we didn't try and bottle it.
Mertesacker even tried his best Stevie Gerrard impression.

Not sure, but maybe you are right. It was this last summer, only when the new sponsorships were signed up. Which is probably why we splashed out on Ozil.

I'e watched our AGM's and they've not said that, it's been pretty much the opposite saying we can't compete with the richest clubs but to be patient because we'll get there soon.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Every one the board has come out and answered a question that has been raised due to a lack of spending. Each time they have said that the money in there to back Wenger. Wenger himself has said the money is there.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No he doesn't.

He did one last summer. I'll find it for you in a bit. Basically stated that despite boards insistence he had money to spend, it wasn't the hundred of millions that people thought.

every club says they have money to spend, the point is how much. unless you think we used to sell our best players and make a profit in the transfer market for the fun of it.

I'm not talking about hundreds of millions. I'm talking about going out and getting players in when you were one or two players away from being able to win the league.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We haven't been one or two players away from winning the league for a decade.
In any case, i don't understand this correllation you're making with spending cash and winning the league. As a Liverpool fan, surely you would understand that?

People make out Arsenal do not have the cash but they have one of the highest wage bills in the prem. Wenger has spent money but has not spent it wisely
And the correlation is there for all to see. Unless of course City and Chelsea were always good?
---------------------------------
Come on now, you were doing well until this shocker.
City and Chelsea have (had) unlimited funds. Buy a top player for £30m.If he does well, great. If he doesn't, meh, buy another one.
Clubs like Arsenal and Liverpool cannot afford to do that. Which is why, when Liverpool did attempt to do it, they almost went bust.
MUDD makes a good point though. Wages have been there but thrown away on dross. But it's not as though we can afford £30m on players and hand out £150,000 on wages, like City, Chelsea and United have been doing.

sorry comments like that are just deluded. during the drought our wage bill has been 4th or 5th highest and our transfer spending 20th lowest our of 20 clubs and we finish 3rd of 4th. there was a study that compared spending to both league finishes and points total and Wenger is top. so while it's not an actual TROPHY it's just deluded to say he hasn't spend wiseley

You make this claim and expect me not to cite Chelsea and City
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I get this. You’re deliberately trying to be difficult in order to ‘win’ the argument, right? And I thought we were mates.
Chelsea and City are abominations of the league. Their income and resources are unlimited and they can spend until success is achieved. Arsenal cannot spend in the same manner. Like I said. Liverpool tried that same formula (spend silly amounts on mediocre players to win the league) and almost went bust. Leeds tried it and did go bust. Tottenham tried to spend £100m to get CL place, and ended up looking silly.
Unless Arsenal can bypass FFP someway, spending millions doesn't correlate to titles.

I appreciate what you are saying. For the first time in a long time, Wenger got rid of a lot of junk at the club and has reduced your wage bill significantly.
I do not believe he has received the financial backing he needs though

?????
we were in multiple seasons of sell more than you buy (negative net spend) when we went bust
It had nothing to do with player signings and everything to do with near £50mil in high rate interest a year on the debt the owners used to acquire the club.
