Liverpool was the exception to the rule I'm afraid. If you can name me a team three teams from across Europe over the last 15 years that back your point up, then fair enough.
------------------------------------------
Well actually the Spanish league is a prime example of what i'm talking about. Malaga tried to spend millons. Almost went bankrupt. Valencia are still feeling the effects of poor financial management in order to win the league. They did, with Rafa, but they have suffered ever since.
Look at the Italian league. Lazio and Parma. 2 prime examples of club trying to spen beyond their means to win the league and almost going bust.
But you expect Arsene Wenger to just ditch his principals because the media are on his back for not spending?
Name one manager in the world who has done what he has done. Every clown in this world could spend silly oil money on players and win a trophy. We are doing business in the right way.
----------------------------
Bayern Munich have done it in a better way. You both built new stadia at the same time, I think it was a year apart. However, Bayern have managed to stay at the very top since 2005, Arsenal haven't. They also don't charge their fans the most expensive tickets in Europe, like Arsenal do. They've got a more successful youth system than Arsenal, something which Arsene kept pointing to as the reason they didn't need to spend.
The models Bayern and Arsenal have developed were miles apart. Bayern were in such a strong financial position and have been for decades. You simply cannot compare the two.

why are Liverpool fans telling us we should be doing better you've spent hundreds of millions more than us. your net spend this season is the same as our net spend for the last 10 years.
Like Serial said earlier:
Chelsea and City are abominations of the league. Their income and resources are unlimited and they can spend until success is achieved. Arsenal cannot spend in the same manner
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
What dont you guys understand about this comment.
Arsenal cannot afford to spend £50M on Torres and for him to then flop, likewise City can spend £30M on Jovetic and leave him on the bench for majority of the season.
Chelsea sold Matic for £5M a few years ago and then resigned him for £20M
We dont have that sort of money, whats difficult to understand about that?!?!
Yet we are supposedly underachieving by finishing behind both, get out of here
His principals, no matter how dignified, are harming the club.

Blatent WUM.

you can't really compare the financial circumstances or even general situation of any two clubs
Arsenal had the luxury of leveraging London property prices to build their stadium. Old Toilet is in such a desolate shiiitehole wasteland they could make it as big as they wanted to without restriction. Bayern has/had a monopoly on sponsorship money in Germany and probably most of central Europe. Liverpool can still trade on name for sponsorship and fanbase marketing whereas Everton can't.
It's a complicated game to navigate. What works for some clubs is literallly impossible for others.
by the way just have to mention that some of you are clueless about Arsenal/Wenger/the way we're run. your theories are based on bull which you've probably read in the media, yet you're trying to tell Arsenal fans you know more about our club than us.

Valencia's financial situation had nothing to do with players and everything to do with a new stadium and an severe economic downturn in Spain.
I expect Wenger to do what is best for the club he manages. His principals, no matter how dignified, are harming the club.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
This what is baffling me about this entire debate!!!
Arsene is Arsenal's most succesfull manager in the history of the club, yet you claim he's harming the club, are you serious?!?
Its like saying SAF was harmful to Man Utd
There really is no point even debating anymore
Greatteams is having a decent WUM though. I've bitten a few times already.

I think Wenger is the right (probably only) manager for Arsenal.
But in the interest of debate "Its like saying SAF was harmful to Man Utd"....he may well have stayed a few years too many. I think he did and he harmed United in the end.
Maybe GT4x will be proven right and Wengers best years are past him or his weakness for diamond in rough hunting will hold back Arsenal.
I don't think so, but I'm just a keyboard manager.
Wenger has been there what, 18 years. His first 10 years he was amazing. The next four years he did a good job doing what you needed to do. After that?
SAF continually won things, it is laughable that you compare the two
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Its laughable!!!
SAF is to Man Utd, what Arsene is to Arsenal.
Its laughable that you dont get or understand that

Heard this every summer for four years.

I'm basing my opinion on fact. Last summer we got in ozil for £42.5m.
Unless you're now going to "debate" that Ozil isn't a top player, in which case

How many Fergie out supporters were there over the last 20 years at United. Every other day there is debate about whether Wenger is right for Arsenal. Just because you claim he is the same for Arsenal as Fergie is for United, it doesn't even come close to making it right.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Its not a claim, its a fact
SAF is Man Uts greatest ever manager.
Arsene is Arsenal's greatest ever manager.
Im guessing you dont remember Utd fans claiming SAF was too old and needed to be replaced when Jose won back to back league titles in his 1st stint?!?
Fans are fickle, but most Arsenal fans appreciate what Arsene has done for the club and continues to do

Arsenal have needed Arsene for the last 10 years. No doubt. New stadium, decline in finances. To keep us in the CL unbroken during that time is a miracle.
However, do we need Arsene now that we have cash, and no longer the limitations of the past 10 years? That's a very valid and debatable point.
Either way, we are still FA CUP WINNERS 2014
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So how long does Wenger get then? As he is the greatest manager ever, how long does that get him? As long as he wants? That right there is why you have stalled.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Thanks for caring about Arsenal, but we dont need your concern

--------------------
If you look at the Deloitte figures from 2005 Arsenal actually generated more revenue than Bayern. You were the richer club at that stage. They built a new stadium in 2005, you built one in 2006, both cost roughly the same.

The reason that Bayern have overtaken Arsenal in recent years is because they have managed their club better. Their youth system is more successful than Arsenals, yet they've still spent big on players every season to maintain their status. Success on the pitch also means big commercial deals off it, like the ones they have with Audi, Samsung, Deutsche Telekom on top of their deal with Allianz.
