The fact he's come from a team that finished 2 places below us with a fraction of the budget while playing attractive football immediately makes him less risky than pretty much every name on your list.. I would have considered the following and made proper attempts for them before Pochettino

(in no particular order):
FDB
Benitez
Laudrup
Martinez (we could pry him from Everton if we wanted)
Ranieri
Allegri
Even facking Moyes
before Pochettino.
