No matter who we sign, I will see this Summer as a failure if Cesc goes to another PL club.
See, I fully understand why you want him back. And I've got no idea on the finances of Arsenal.
But, purely logically, that money is better spent elsewhere. Cesc's position is by far Arsenal's most heavily stocked position.
Had you signed Suarez last year, you'd have won the league by a mile.
Also, someone like Mascherano would be an excellent signing.
I get the romance with Cesc, but I can also see Wenger's thinking behind letting the opportunity pass.
And if Fabregas does go to Chelsea, there's no guarantee he will play every week in a midfield already stocked with £30 million players.
Imagine turning down a world class football for £27M and then signing an over the hill Swede with a broken back on loan.
If he goes to another premier league club, then I will probably have take some serious time away from this site. He is, by some distance, my favourite player playing today, and it was bad enough seeing him move to Barcelona.
The worst thing is that I can see it happening, especially after the RVP situation, and us still not investing significantly this summer.

Like I say, I understand the fans point of view. Torres still smarts. But, objectively, I can see where Wenger is coming from too.
Fack cesc we have ramsey and ozil, just need a world-class striker + holding midfielder to become PL champions

But we all know that Wenger has no intention of paying the required money to get a world class forward in, neither will he buy a DM.

Objectively, it's hard to envisage regretting signing Cesc. The reverse is true of letting him go to another PL club. As Batmanu implies, even if money were to be invested elsewhere, which is by no means a given, this would still always be remember as the summer we didn't sign Cesc.
That's true I suppose. Let's face it, Chelsea have been buying other people's targets just so they can't have them for years now.
Salah a prime example.
Football is a team sport. We have found our winning mentality with the current crop. We simply need to build on it. Fabregas, thought would be a good signing, is by no means a must buy. He has his time at the club and failed to do what the current crop have done. If at all he comes back, he would need to prove he can work with this current crop. I would rather spend the money elsewhere.

You just said the complete opposite like 2 hours ago.
I still find it hard to believe Wenger would reject Cesc, maybe we are waiting for a club to agree a fee so we can match it... that's how a first refusal clause works I think. could be wishful thinking. The thing is if we wanted to spend £30m on another playmaker everyone would say we don't need to but with Cesc it's just an emotional decision to want him back at Arsenal. Wenger's been criticised in the past for not buying the players we need and not changing his philosophy and if he doesn't sign Cesc he'll get criticised for the opposite.
Vest would be an awesome addition but we can do without him.
We do need Cesc, even with Ozil and Ramsey in the team last season we did not create enough chances.
Remember the days when every keeper that came to the Emirates was man of the match against us? Doesn't happen anymore and even cráp teams finish the match with more possession than us.
You can count the clear cut chances we created at home vs United, City, Chelsea and Everton last season on one hand. Yes Giroud missed all the clear chances he was given but that's not the point.
We don't need Cesc. The reasons we didn't create much last season was because we were more defensively cautious.
No it's because we surrender the ball too much in midfield and don't move it forward with intent.
So how come we have our highest tally of 77 and silverware to back it up?
Cesc would be a welcome addition.
Don't let's get carried away by fancy midfielders. We have enough of them. We should focus more on DM, RB, CB and CF.
Zelalem will be better than Cesc in a few years anyway
Can't wait to see Cesc in blue
We scored 68 goals in the league last season. We haven't scored that little since the 68 we scored in 08/09 where we had all those 0-0 draws.
