Is this W&R by any chance?

posted on 19/6/14

I've just never rated him that highly. Positional sense is fairly poor. He's like a kid in the playground running all over the pitch just to get the ball/get involved. Which yes his commitment is second to none and refreshing to see but it doesn't help the team a lot if the time. His touch is poor as his is passing IMO. I just think he has never been in the world class bracket

No it wasn't. You are backing down because you have been questioned and can't back it up
........
Err yes it was. I'm not going to get into a silly argument over whether it was an exaggeration or not

Vc have you not been reading?
I said it was an exaggeration. Tongue in cheek comment if you were.

Still on a different level yes IMO. And 3 of them seasons have been out if the last 4 seasons. Last season Rooney out scored RVP but played 12 games more. RVP career has been hampered by injuries especially earlier in his career.

Rooney rarely plays as United's front man either

His goal tally has been immense, not to mention his assist tally too

Rooney's passing poor?

I think I've heard it all now

his crossfield /long distance passes are good. However for a number 10 where he is predominantly played his through balls i think are quite poor. So many times hits the defenders legs. Not like silva, mata, suarez etc

Vidichin

unlike some (you) i don't class every decent player as world class. For me an over used term in football

Ronneys short link play has left something to be desired over the last 2-3 years, that aside very few, if any top level teams would not want him in the team

If there is a better will to win (so underatted in top players) I want to meet that player he just wants to win

That clearly explains why he is always high up on the assist charts.

Oh, hang on, no it doesn't.

You do know that Rooney is the little stocky white guy with a thatch on his noggin, yes?

Not the tall black guy who plays for us up front.

Never questioned his desire insufferable. But then when you are on that sort of money you should have some desire

Neither do I. If you think I do, I challenge to go find some posts wher eI have used the phrase.

In fact I use the term very little.

Rooney's delivery is top notch. Why do you think he takes all the set pieces?

His short passing my not be jaw dropping but when it comes to forward players who have to continually try things as opposed to taking easy options, then players will not always get it right

With Rooney though, it is exaggerated tenfold for some reason.

I watch Mata, RVP and Kagawa misshit passes or have bad first touches all the time too but nobody ever brings it up.

You are a country mile wide of the mark if you think Rooney is a poor passer of a football. He's one of the best we have

posted on 19/6/14

You clearly dont watch us do you VC? Yes he may well be high up on assist charts. Dont have the assist charts to hand personally. However watching him play and watching the likes of silva, mata etc i personally think their through balls, chances created etc are higher and better.

Money is irrelevent to this discussion

Why the hell did you bring it up?

Plus rooney takes a lot of the set pieces which help his assists

And he takes them because?

posted on 19/6/14

Don't know. Maybe because he is ok at them and most others we have are poor.
In fact rvp and matas deliveries are better

Up until 2 years ago, I'd have taken Rooney over RVP any time. But something's not quite right with Rooney at the moment.

Even last year, when people said he came out of the season as one of our few pluses, I'd have to disagree. Yes - around late Autumn he scored a few good goals, including some awesome freekicks, but his 'in-play' game was not at all fluid. It was just the odd moment of something wonderful (e.g. the goal vs West Ham or again, last week's cross to Sturridge). It all seems to have become very stagnated with our Wayne.

Of course, that could well be because the team as a whole was not gelling at all. Hopefully, he'll be back to his best next year.

So, in terms of set pieces, they help Rooney's assist figures but RVP and Mata are still better at it?

RVP and Mata are not better than Rooney at set piece taking whatsoever

Silva plays a completely different position to Rooney. Silva often flatters to deceive as well. Superb on his day, but not often enough. See his last two games as a point of reference.

Mata has just as many through balls that get cut out as rooney does.

So does Mata and RVP.

Take my advice. Start digging upwards.

posted on 19/6/14

Yeah rooney also flatters to deceive most times. What is your point? Plus why mention about mata and rvp assists?
I was talking about creative passing.

Just because you are a rooney fan boy don't have a go at anyone else about lack of footballing knowledge because they have a different opinion to yourself
