No offence Afridi but I think it would be unbearable if Pakistan end their 6-0 hoodoo

also the start of the World Cup which gets under way with a mouth watering India Pakistan clash on the 15th February also at the Adelaide Oval.

Up to now, you have a sound reputation on here... But do you really want to be remembered as the indian fan who created the world cup thread in which Pakistan beat india??? I'd re-think your strategy...

Interesting that Pak play india at Adelaide - flat deck and well suited to both teams. I think you boys are in for a very long, hot and catastrophic aussie summer ahead

For the test series we are for sure. The brilliant news that Dhoni will join the test party before Adelaide has really encouraged everyone (!)

For the ODI's and World Cup I genuinely think we stand a far better chance than some think. Australia are still to convince me and South Africa love to choke in big tournaments - also the humidity and dry pitches will suit our batsmen I feel. As for Pakistan that 6-0 is a brilliant record but you do feel it can be broken at any time due to the usual scrappy nature of the games between the two.

Where is Lefty when you need him

Kav,

India have a massive advantage with getting used to conditions and climate well in advance. However, your busy schedule could be your un-doing... Also, have you bought any bowlers in this tour??? Although, must admit I do love watching the pie-chuckers

People are under-estmating NZ... Solid batting line up and have some very good bowlers now. Home too. Semis at least

What do you guys think of South Africa for the World Cup? I think it's our turn. Cannot wait. This is the last chance for Dale Steyn to finally get that medal under his belt

South Africa will do OK, dont think they will get to the Semi's
Australia will do well

oh..and as a standard world cup feature.....India beat Pakistan

also..Sri Lanka will get to the final

If South Africa don't get to the semis, I'd consider it as another failure. New Zealand are good money.

SA look good in the groups but as soon as it becomes knock out cricket they choke. Players like Smith, Gibbs, Kallis, Pollock and Donald all failed. Its like they have not got over the 1992 WC injustice

With this format of each team playing 6 matches in the group stage to have 4 teams qualify for QF, it is very unlikely that we will see any associate member teams making it to the knockout stage.

My predictions for QF:

Pool A - Aus, NZ, SL, BD
Pook B: SA, Ind, PK, WI

My predictions for SF:
Aus
NZ
Ind
WI

I know it is too early because whoever is in form during those few weeks gets the job done.

Bit harsh not to have included England my2c (U20086)

They are a very dangerous 1 day team

dont be fooled by their current form

They are saving their best for the WC

Pak will have no chance.
Not consistent enough then again they have never been consistent.

Not sure how you can say pakiatan have "no chance". Bengalis apart, all 7 top teams have a chance.

If (massive if) Pakistan have a fully fit squad, I think they'll have the joint best pace bowling attack with Saffers and aussies, and the best spin bowling attack. Granted, the batting is the concen but no different from most other teams.

England Saffers pak have an equal chance as each other. England have cook, bell, root with medicore strike rates, whilst pak have shehzad, younis and ahafiq. Englands death bowling of late has been disastrous

England's current 'cooking' method will continue to produce bad results. 'UnCooked' England might have a fair chance.

England have very little chance. The arrogance of Cook will cost them.

I admire your positiveness about Pak

However imo there only 3 teams that can win the WC

Aus, Kiwis & Eng

No other teams will stand a chance.
That is the brutal reality simply becos all the other teams have an absolutely woeful ODI record in the Australian & New Zealand conditions.

Grande:

Pak win regular one day series in NZ and who can forget 1992.

both India and Sri Lanka in past have won one day comps in Australia.

Test records are bad for sub cont sides in Australia but one day cricket is completely different. The wickets will be flat and as the tournament goes on and more the wicket gets used the more it will turn.
