England? Seriously? England are one of the most useless ODI teams. They just don't know how to play an ODI and they have absolutely no chance of even progressing through to the knockout stages let alone winning the damn thing.
Vinz.. id be interested to see how the indian spinners do in the world cup.. they will be cannon fodder.. maybe they should chuck the doosra.
If England are one of the worst odi teams just like India test team the batsmen cant bat anywhere other than the subcontinent.
Pujara
Kohli
Benny and oh and
Id agree with you there Eng! I would say though that England's ODI team is useless in all conditions and India's test team is useless outside the subcontinent!
Viren.. India wont win the wolrd cup in Australia.. their bowling wont be upto it..
England as much of achance in Aus as India.
With the icc banning spinners with suspect actions. teams that rely on spinners wont get as much joy like they would on slow turners.. You;ll be able to hit the spinner more on Aussies wickets.
ODI bowling is very different to test match cricket. Its more of a restriction and pressure game forcing batsmen into mistakes compared to tests where the batsman is under no obligation to score in regards to the number of balls left. This is what Dhoni does well at in terms of rotating his bowlers and forcing opposition into mistakes. If India have "no chance" I wonder what negligible scale we'd have to create for England whoelse
I never said India have no chance. they wont win it though.
You'll be able to cut spinners and slog sweep them more often.
No you didn't but I think its fair to say England do not have "as much of achance" as India either quite frankly and thats being very unbiased. They haven't shown the ability to adapt at all under Cook for the last two years and I expect down under to be no different.
Kav.. well India wont win it either. so that's the same as England..
Not what you said though was it.
India have a far better chance than England do though.
Do we have any other fans on this forum? I see squabbles between ind-Pak-eng fans only. Any zealanders or staffers? West Indies even? This cricket forum is very biased between them 3 set of fans.

1 Aussie fan called Duncan but not been seen since Pak beat them.
Boss and HK are South Africa fans.
I think Indian bowlers will struggle to contain runs in the coming WC. As the tournament gets underway, chances for each team depend of their form at that time and other issues such as injuries to key players. Nevertheless, at this time, Australia should be the most favoured team to win the Cup.
SA can't be written off despite their long history of doing something stupid in the knockout stage.

I congratulated Pak, I tend not to comment unless test cricket is on. I will say that NZ showed what you can do if you actually win the toss and can play spin. Australia definitely made the wrong selection for the second test as well, Starc is simply not good enough and O'Keefe should have been given another go.
I see that Aus are looking good ahead of the WC, which is the only non-test cricket that I care about. Perhaps Australia can make it 5 wins.
Dhoni's unavailability for the Adelaide test must be good news for India fans. His captaincy record outside the subcontinent is 4 wins, 13 losses.
Dhoni can be blamed for parts of the losses. There were times against eng and even previously that the batting just failed miserably. No captain can do anything about their batsman failing. There were selection problems even then the bigger culprits were the batsmen who failed miserably. Even in 8-0 losses India didn't pass 300 once. Dhoni's limitations are that he doesn't know what to do to finish off the games. He runs out of ideas. But with the batting we have we are going to struggle more often than not. Dhawan imp will struggle, and will expose our middle order.
I've already made my opinion of Dhoni in test match cricket very clear and I'm very happy we don't get to see his ridiculous and quite frankly very negative brand for the first test. I've harped on about this for years now almost but it's time to give Kohli's aggressive attitude and methods a go in tests. This India test side gets bullied under Dhoni and has done for years now - time for a change.
India fans have always been quick to point the finger at Dhoni, but he's the one (most often than not) to show a bit of pride and ball5... Of course, Indias problem is the shoddy way the batsmen play overseas and rubbish bowling attack- but Dhoni is often made the scapegoat.
Kohli couldn't hold the bat for longer than 10 minutes in england, and is now apparently the saviour in Auss...
Our rubbish bowling is down to his negative tactics which ironically have the opposite effect in ODI's and we are world beaters in that format. However this conversation has been done to the death already and its clear to see Dhoni is at fault for a lot that is wrong with Indian test cricket in my view anyway. Most Indian fans actually worship Dhoni so I don't see where you've got that from
In regards to Kohli this isn't about his batting but his general leadership and attitude which is an of an aggressive nature which would suit test match cricket. He may take time to grow into the role but quite frankly nothing can be as bad as the shocking test performances under Dhoni over the past 5 years. I fail to see why this point doesn't resonate. It's like banging your head against a wall.
Kav lets see what our Kohli can do. India's bowlers are pretty average. Doesnt matter how they are handled. Ok dhoni did handle the bowlers very badly, with his miserable selection of jadeja and binny, and running down bhuvi to the ground, but that NZ test where India like 2 days to get NZ out, they failed miserably.
If Ind go with 4 bowlers, i think we are going to struggle. If adelaide is a batting pitch, then IMO we would need 5 bowlers. 4 pacers and 1 spinner. OW Haddin and tailenders of Aus will destroy our tired pacers towards the end. Thats what happened to englands bowlers. They had no clue. I hope Kohli and management see the need of 5 Genuine bowlers and not bits and pieces players.
And our batsman need to convert their starts. they cannot score 20s and then get out. Pujara, Kohli and dhawan all need to score. They just dont have runs from the past the past 5 tests
And this is a bat first pitch. I just want to see how the team deals with harris and johnson.
Our seamers are poor there is no denying it. Zaheer Khan's ageing has hurt us because he was such a class player and the last genuine top seamer India had was Javagal Srinath yonks back. Nowadays we have the likes of Ishant and Binny making the test squad - players who wouldn't get into many county attacks. However the brand played under Dhoni has not played into the seamers strengths. Little things like going back into his shell with the bowlers whenever a few boundaries are hit do not win you test matches and never will.
I'd like to see the batsmen to start taking more responsbility - the likes of Pujara and Kohli are not youngsters anymore and they need to step up.
