I dont think there is any doubt that what Moxey calls young and hungry is what other people might call cheap and cheerful.

If it is true that Callum Wilson and Harry Maguire were our main targets this summer then its not encouraging that Wilson chose Bournemouth ahead of us. And if Maguire stays put or moves to anything other than a Premier League club then that would also be disappointing.

There is a real danger that the financial losses we have suffered plus the players we want to offload this summer but havent done yet, could be a real barrier to us strengthening the team with the right calibre of player this summer.

Wolves and Bournemouth are similar sized clubs. If you were beside the seaside you may have had a chance.

Regarding Wilson and Maguire, both good prospects, neither proven at Championship level, not really sure what the fuss is, especially for the fees wanted.

Would Wilson have replaced Dicko? Not for me he wouldn't, likewise Maguire, I would go with Batth and Stearman.

Works both ways, if indeed they have spoken to Wolves, they would have been given no guarantees of first team footy in a team that isn't broken.

Bournemouth have just been taken over by a new owner who wants to splash the cash. Wilson chose them over Norwich, not us, which can only be because the terms offered were substantially better.
How Bournemouth will get around FFP remains to be seen.

Bit harsh on Jackett that cinci. He has been quite open in saying he wanted these players, you clearly think he is an idiot for wanting them. I think they would have been good signings and retain faith in our manager

No DJ, i think they would be good squad members, but in our position thats a lot of money warming a bench.

Batth and Stearman were the best defensive pairing in League 1, a record setting one, i would favour those two over Maguire at this point.
Nouha Dicko scored 18 goals in 24 league one games last season.

The fact is 3 million is a lot of money for a league 1 player, we can purchase many many proven championship players for the same fee and indeed less.

Bournemouth did sell Grabban for around 3 million+

We dont want proven Championship players, we want players who can grow into Premier League players and they wont come cheap. As others have said, never thought we would reach the point where Bournemouth can outbid us for players we want

I get your point DJ, just seems to me that 6 million is a lot to drop for two unknown quantities.

We have taken Julien Leghait on trial from Lens apparently, 20 year old, played under 16s and under 18s, presumably a developmental squad target.

There have been many players on KJ's radar, but the end of the day, we have to do the right thing and what's best for the club. To me 3m is way too much for such a player as Callum. Bournemouth got him and offered him more that what we probably did and guaranteed him regular first team football. For me, the sooner we offload the "unwanted players" the better we'll be when negotiating deals for future transfer targets. There's still a long way to go before the window shuts.

Getting rid of players is priority number one this summer, no doubt that will influence what comes the other way.

We have been trying to get rid of some for two years, some for one year, it isn't going to suddenly get easier this summer unless we just cut ties with some of them.
