Early days little buddy

Yes it is, but the signs are not good. And his tactics seem to be costing you

Still well in the hunt for fourth, despite being awful. Like I said, early days.

And 2 points ahead of 16th

Fourth? So you're expecting regression despite the money spent? Why's that?

The Champeens League money will come in handy to payoff Brendans contract

Because we punched above our weight last season.

But your signings seem to have dictated a total change in Brendan's style of football and his philosophy he so painfully and consistently pointed out last season was part of your identity. So has he made the wrong signings to suit your style or has he reneged on this so called footballing philosophy that was so fundamental last season in search of a more one dimensional long ball game lacking pace and played through a deep lying Gerrard to a target man style forward. Much like Stoke do? Is this his new philosophy?

Hang on, are you saying we're playing more long balls this season? If you are, I fear you need to check your stats. We've averaged far more passes over a shorter distance this season. The issue has been that we have been too slow and moved the ball too slowly. That'll change when we can play the diamond formation again.

I would like to see those stats.

But why, after the Spurs victory and performance, did Brendan scrap the diamond? Is it the shoehorning of Balotelli into the team? We suffered massively by playing the wrong football style and not playing to Torres strengths early enough in his time with us, this knocked his confidence and he became a shadow of his former self. I fear the same will happen with Ballotelli but in reverse, you shouldn't be accommodating his style when it flies in the face of why you were so successful last season.

So basically, he hasn't signed the necessary players required to maintain your style of play from last season and this was done deliberately because he prefers a totally different formation to the main reason behind your surprisingly good form last season. That sounds odd? But i thought it was his/Liverpool's philosophy? Perhaps he was expecting far more from the players he signed and that this new set up is a result of this.

4-3-3 was always his formation, when we had two top class strikers he needed to find a way to play them both up front through the middle. He started with 3-5-2 and it changed to the diamond. As I'm sure you'd be first to point out, we were defensively poor last season, and the diamond whilst being able to release our front two offered little protection, particularly wide. It needed addressing, BR has seemingly attempted to do that by playing 4-3-3.

You keep talking about our philosophy, what is it?

When you listen to his description of his sttacking philosophy with pace, creativity, goal threat, this is incidentally nothing like you have either been playing or setup for this season.

So I suggest its the type and quality of your signings which has undermined your style. Surely the loss of Sturbridge alone shouldnt be cause to totally rip up this philosophy?
