Hang on, are you saying we're playing more long balls this season? If you are, I fear you need to check your stats. We've averaged far more passes over a shorter distance this season. The issue has been that we have been too slow and moved the ball too slowly. That'll change when we can play the diamond formation again.

What you said was

That is about the number of passes not the length of pass. So I'll ask again where is this stat that shows you've made "more passes over a shorter distance'?

It doesn't exist because you've averaged less possession and less passes this season.

Amount of possession has nothing to do with anything. The amount of distance is what the context of comment was in relation to as somebody said we'd been more direct this season, whilst I maintained that our build up play was slower with more passes. A player could keep the ball for 10 seconds before passing, in that same time 5 passes could be made. Possession would still be the same so is completely irrelevant.
