Anyone worried?

Woodward is just a patsy.

The truth is despite the bluster you can't attract the best players, no matter who you had trying to do the deals.

You also can't afford to take massive risks with signings while you still have a big squad full of players in no rush to leave.

Be grateful we are not making panic buys such as Ricky Lambert. Unfortunately the top players do not want to play in England like zidane, ronaldinho and fat Rinaldo.

*thinking, frankly I don't care less about the risk free buy that was Lambert. And I don't feel grateful that we didn't sign him, I just feel upset that LVG's supposed principles are even questioned.

In Mata, Shaw and Herrera, we've already spent £80m this year. How much do you people really think we can spend? Obviously, LVG is looking at a CB. Only an idiot wouldn't think we didn't needed one. That's why I really do believe that TV was a realistic target.

The biggest force against signing new players is not selling. LVG has only been back in the UK for a week. If we can sell 2 or 3 more players and make another 30 to 40m, then we'll be able to buy. But net, I doubt we have more than 15 or 20m to spend, whatever the press says.

And finally, I'm realistic. I think 5th is an honest position for us. I won't give up on champions league qualification, but that will only happen if we see a big decline from Liverpool. Arsenal, City and Chelsea, will NOT fall out of the top 4.

LVG has not yet signed anyone. Shaw and Herrera were Moyes's targets that LVG felt he should continue with.

LVG has not yet signed anyone. I don't see that as anything other than a negative. We should be aiming for the league title. Our current squad won't finish above fifth.

do herrera and shaw not count ?

still 3 weeks left

posted on 10/8/14

It was a response to the previous post tbf. And there may be three weeks left but there are only 6 days left until the season starts. And that's what the manager should be looking at, not the lottery of deadline day overpriced buys.

Just my opinion but this is not a title challenging squad and is even likely to miss out on top four

Anyone catch the Sunday Supplement today?

Sam Wallace (Independant) saying how Woodward isn't even competing for the best players despite mouthing off in interviews that the club are.

posted on 10/8/14

He's also targeted Tomas vermaelen and couldn't even make that underwhelming signing happen, in spite of spending months trying to do that deal.

I don't doubt LVG as a manager but his transfer market antics thus far are a worry. We aren't good enough. He needs to change that and has the budget to do so

No he didn't. They were coming anyway. LVG has to sell before he can buy. Not Woodward's fault. He's the CEO, but he that doesn't mean he has the money.

and yet his paper has been pushing Vidal, Hummels, Reus, Di Maria etc etc rumours as much as anyone else.... he should make his mind up

Sunday Supplement just rehashes the same rubbish rumours you read online while they pretend to be in the know

Im not really looking forward to the transfer deadline day excitement. We need to add some quality to our defense and our midfield. so its hard to get exited over a scatter gun approach for 12 hours that could end up buying another fellaini.

Given choice, Id rather be in a chelsea's situation, They already strengthen the key areas they need strengthening. They may not make another signing in this window

City also did their transfers early last season. United entertained their fans with transfer deadline day excitement, City entertained their fans through out the season

With our last deadline day debacle, Id be quite worried if we wont sign a quality CB and a CM till deadline day

I also dont get this "we need to sell before we buy" statement. getting the players in usually hastens the departure of unwanted fringe players. Players like Valencia, Young, Fellaini are PL proven. There is almost always a PL club willing to take them in, At least on loan.

Worst case case scenario is having to leave a player out of the squad. Even if we leave a 100k per week player out of the squad, Its a loss of about 5m over the season. We loose far more money IF we fail to get to CL this season

luke I am sure the club have crunched all the numbers and are aware of what financial impact failing to qualify for the cl will entail. Thats why I am confident that every effort is being and will be made to strengthen the squad in the next 3 weeks.

Thats why I think "we need to sell before we buy" argument is invalid. It doesnt make any sense footballing wise and or financial wise

Hold on a second.

No one though the last day was exciting last year, it represented the biggest cockk up in our recent transfer history and we managed to make our squad worse.

5th is not realistic, you say big decline lol, Liverpool did there 08-09 season suprise challenge with red card pens suarez season etc.

Going by squads I reckon Man utd Chelsea Man city Tottenham. Only reason I think Chelsea will finish 2nd is Drogba and Diego Costa coming and them having a solid defence and goalkeeper. Arsenal and Liverpool are odds on to miss out.

The same people on here defending Moyes saying the squad was not good enough to get top 4 now saying the current squad should be able to get there with no more additions required. It's like they are afraid to speak out against the club.

actually you could also say the same people who had a go at moyes for not getting more out of a pl winning squad are the ones now screaming for these players to be sold
