I'd get rid of Chicha before Welbeck too. Chicha as nice a character as he is and as well a job he's done, just doesn't have the skills to make it as a United player. Welbeck as hope.
I've seen nothing on Sky sports regarding this news either, this is the only thing I found from this morning
http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/12040/9439410/transfer-news-roberto-martinez-keeps-open-mind-amid-links-to-samuel-etoo
On Welbeck and Eto’o, Martinez added: “There is a lot of money involved in those two. At the moment, if I am honest with you, I am looking at all the options.
“While the window is open we are looking at anyone who can help us and also looking at our injured players and seeing how they react.
Was that Dharmesh Sheth at the transfer screen

Read properly, I was talking about Cleverley and Young.
Keeping Young while shipping Welbeck out makes no sense to me.
Ashley Young offers nothing to the team. If he is still at the club when the transfer window closes, then I despair, I really do.

Bit over the top there bud.
young has high wages so not many clubs will be in for him

harsh or not, just fed up with those two particular players that have shown absolutely no improvement at all for United and they're earning high wages for it. It's ridiculous.
I hear Cleverly could get a new 5 year contract.
Seriously what is with our club giving good contracts to rubbish players.
Later on welbz.
Sending a striker who can't hit a barn door to a rival is amazing business.
Lol it's not harsh to say they're rubbish players, saying that they can f off to a group that are throwing children off cliffs, burying people alive, raping women and beheading journalists is definitely harsh. And more importantly it's making light of a group that definitely shouldn't be made light of.
This, like the Nani deal could be a smart move it could be a terrible move.
Positives are:
1) He could help take points from teams in and around us
2) his selling fee would increase if he performs well. Potentially quite dramatically.
3) he could come back a more complete player ready to contend the likes of Rooney and RVP for a starting place
4) it probably means we will revert to a 4-3-3
Negatives:
1) Could help Everton beat us to a CL spot
2) he may not be a guaranteed starter there either, making the deal a waste of time for all parties
3) He could have a poor run of form and he ends up back on our doorstep valued at an even lesser fee (this I doubt)
4) he is a player we have nobody similar to. One of our quickest and most powerful players, great work rate and brigs others into play really well.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
But Young doesn't have the potential to be worth £25m to the club, Welbs does.
I'm sure if anybody was willing to buy Young, we'd sell him. Same for Nani and Welbs, rightly or wrongly.
Didn't LVG send Kroos on loan at a time he expected to step up to the first team?

Yeah he did.
I don't want us to lose him given him is they only forward we have with pace, is capable of holding the ball up or beating a man.
Will he get in ahead of Mirallas? Certainly won't start ahead of Lukaku.

Sell on value, perhaps?
Mirallas isn't really a central striker though is he? Always assumed he was more a winger or wide forward.
Centrally I can only think of Lukaku who I assume will always be picked ahead of Danny. Ideally I want Danny starting most games centrally.
Sell on value, perhaps?

There you go.
At the moment Cleverley can run down his contract and leave on a free next season.
We tie him to a new contract and we will get a fee (maybe) for him.
There is nothing to say that we have to increase his wage in a new contract.

Oh yes, teams would be chomping at a bit to buy Tom 'blooming Sideways' Cleverley.
But I can't imagine we'd get too much for Cleverly if he were in the middle of a long contract, £8-10m tops. And that's assuming we will sell him in the next year or 2. I'd imagine we'd be paying him around 80k a week, in 2 years that's already over £8m.
