I would avoid any places that think you are incapable of adding your own black pepper to your dinner

I fcking hate that
a waiter with a 3 foot long pepper pot thinking hes hold all the power
its the same with parmesan ,
i can do it myself and i know precisely how much i like of each

I stayed at the Lorne Hotel (Aye, as in square sausage) when I was down for Still Game at the weekend just past.
Hydro is walkable in 5mins from it.
When the shows near starting, traffic is a nightmare, so you'll end up sitting in a taxi going nowhere for about 20mins if you don't just walk it.

Quite a few reasonable boozers nearby too, though I couldn't name any of them now

I would say I prefer the Grand Central Hotel, but it still had nice rooms and was pretty decent all round and for getting to the Hydro you can't really go wrong

SPR, thanks, I don't mind a good burger but if it's just that then not really something I'm dying to tick off the list.

Make sure you attend the Thai place mate, I've yet to experience anything better

Got a night out 1st week in November, kinda couples/family night, starting off in Sapporo (can't wait for that) then heading to the new bar in Merchant City, can't remember the name of it, it's black and gold and meant to be pretty decent, anyone been?

Sapporo is good fun.

There are two black and gold pubs in merchant city but they are very different. Ingram wynd which is close to Sapporo and wicked which is a cabaret bar and lounge

Grand Central Hotel’s £250! Fck that as we’re only staying a night and we’ll be lucky to spend over 6 hours in the place. Lorne’s booked. Trying to get Glasgow Lofts but toiling trying to get on their web site. Cheers for the heads up mate

In that case book http://www.oxandfinch.com for your dinner. It's Scottish style tapas I loved it and it's directly across the street from the Lorne.

Might be a bit late for a hotel now, but in future keep yer eye on:

https://www.itison.com/Glasgow/deals
Can get some great deals on hotels in Glasgow on there at times, seen you saying Grand Central was £250, seen it on here for about £100 a wee while back.

also, http://www.5pm.co.uk is a good place to go to have a swatch at restaurants in glasgow by cuisine and the offers they do etc.

Wicked, that's the one

I've just realised the hotels will be fully booked because not only of Still game but it's also the great Scottish run this weekend mate

Aye the last time I was through for a gig there was the world pipe band contest on!! Could nae get a room anywhere in Glasgow so had to get the last train home. Hate having a long commute after a great night out. Moral of the tale is I need to get better organised! Should have made arrangements months ago. The bookings for the Thai place is down at the moment but I’ve to phone back later. She’ll love it and I know I will so cheers for the recommendation mate The reviews for wicked are a bit hit and miss but might pop in. Bath st still sounds good as does the merchant area

There wasn’t any availability when I checked! That would have been ideal too but managed to get a berth at Premier Inn so cheapish and hopefully cheerful! Was just glad to get a room for the night as it would have put a dampner on the night if we had to get the train home.
Anywhere nice to go for lunch and a curer prior to leaving late Sunday?
Appreciate aw the good advice NNH as I want to make sure that things are organised. Rather than my usual “Fck it” half ersed arrangements and see how the night turns out! She deserves a well planned evening with a bite to eat, comedy show followed by cocktails, some tunes and plenty more laughs

Where is the premier inn?

For both a curer and some decent grub I'd recommend Maggie May's at Merchant City on a Sunday afternoon, they also have a big screen so you can sit downstairs on a comfy couch with grub and beer

Here's the menu, the haggis and pulled pork nachos are good, Chicken Chilli noodles but my favourite is the Texan burger

I was getting more agitated every time he said, what part didn't he understand the flooking halfwit?
