"The only thing Chambers has over Stones is his high card per game return."
And yet, other than a slight pass completion edge (Everton do pass it sideways around the back more than any team I've seen), Chambers trounces him in most facets of the game. Good one.
As for Flanagan, he did a pretty decent job last season. Functional and solid. There's no shame saying he could make a decent Premier League career - either at a lower club, or as a Liverpool squad player. But I can bet anything he won't be an established international. In time we should eventually see who is right.
My comment was about Flanagan's passing and he is a fine passer of the ball. Shades of Nicol in there but I guess I've only seen every single game he has ever played ever so what would I know.
By saying Everton pass the ball sideways more than any team you've seen I'm thinking you didn't find the time to watch Arsenal after all.
"By saying Everton pass the ball sideways more than any team you've seen I'm thinking you

Watching football takes up a lot of my weekend time. From PL noon games to night La Liga games. Don't see why that is so difficult to reconcile. Ever heard of TV? Satellite broadcast? Internet streaming?
"My comment was about
Flanagan's passing and he is a fine passer of the ball. Shades of Nicol in there but I guess I've only seen every single game he

I haven't seen anything THAT fine about the passing. It's little different from most fullbacks. Flanagan's defending actually impresses me more than his offensive game. The amusement when he scored against Spurs last season tells the tale. And watching your team doesn't NECESSARILY give you better insight than neutrals. The effect is often the opposite.
And yet if you're honest you've surely not really watched Stones, Chambers and Flanagan play much at all have you seeing as they play in the same league or do you use double screens?
Why would you be watching Southampton, Liverpool AND Everton when Arsenal are playing?
I know why I watch Everton when I can and I've known about Stones for a couple of years. Although I only watched about 6 or 7 Southampton games I still don't think I've seen enough of Chambers. When I have seen him for Arsenal this season (twice) he's not looked positionally great and he was woeful with posession in the two England games in my opinion.
I like all three for what it's worth but the way people are so definitive about other teams players is pretty questionable.
Stones actually played mainly as a right back for Barnsley before joining Everton.
At Everton they have moved him inside, and clearly he looks a prospect at centre half.
Flanagan is an excellent passer for a defender. He passes hard and through the lines. Sure he is no dribbler, but neither is Chambers or Stones.
They all have quality, but as a right back Flanagan is the best and if fit has a good chance at right back for England because his mentality is excellent. Chambers and Stones will both be good centre halves and will challenge for those spots over the next decade.
Stones should be nowhere near the England squad if he is meant to be playing right back. All the players I posted are better than him in this position.
He is a better centre back than right back, but still not good enough in my opinion. Jagielka and Cahill are clearly our best centre backs, the reserves should be Jones/Smalling/Chambers as they are all better centre backs. Stones may one day improve to be better than them but he definitely isn't at the moment.
Flanagan reminds me of a young Gary Neville which he probably won't appreciate!
I'd say that was a fair comparison. Flanagan is a bit more reckless in the tackle at times, but 12 yellows and a red in 78 games is not too bad for first team and u21's.
His main weakness is heading in his own box IMO.
"And yet if you're honest you've surely not really watched Stones, Chambers and Flanagan play much at all have you seeing as they play in the same league or do you use double screens? Why would you be watching
Southampton, Liverpool AND Everton when Arsenal are playing?"
I watch Arsenal every week. Liverpool were the team I watched most after that last season (at least 2 dozen times - and not always live) and also caught plenty of the games of all other top 8 teams last season - even Southampton. I usually watch about 6 of the 10 league games each weekend. It's not that impossible, so quit trying to tell me what I watch and do not watch.

So you are a neutral fan of Chambers
Watching 6-10 games a weekend, you really need to get out and watch a game....maybe at a football ground.

Yeah few times - certainly knew who he was. I really enjoy ressie football, guessing who will make the step up and so on. My record is pretty good as it goes!

He is not a RB though is he, he has covered for Everton and England. He outperforms /rescues Jagielka often....that doesn't bode well for our nations CB prospects does it

So just so I'm clear you watch re-runs of Liverpool games? Really?
I would like to know how many times you watched Stones in the Ressies
"Fack me you need to get out more."
No, I don't. I get out well enough and weekends offer a respite, which I like spending indoors. 6 matches, or 9 hours of football spread over 2 weekend days is hardly that outrageous.
"So you are a neutral fan of Chambers"
No. Haven't said so. I said watching your own player more regularly than neutrals doesn't NECESSARILY give you a better vantage point to judge the player. Keep up.

Thats correct, your opinion on Chambers is flawed

Yes. It happens I enjoyed watching Suarez and the football last season. Do you have a problem with that? I could ask why you watch reserve games.

I would say that he lives local and it gives fans the chance to get out and watch live football of a good standard at a very low price.
