Scotland isn't a country we had the chance of being a country but rejected it.

It's not a vote on being European it would be a vote on membership of a gang nothing to do with identity.

Saf may have a point,as surely an indy Scotland would be taken over in the mass that is the EU,and a nation of 6 million would have little sway in Brussels,if an indy Scotland opted for full EU membership, and if yeez were allowed in?You dissed the euro too quickly.

The idea behind the EU is an ever deepening union...

If you're so terrified of losing your identity then that is a far bigger worry than remaining part of Britain, Scotland is a major player in British policy in comparison to what they would be on the European circuit!

Do you know how many Scottish leaders we have had, how many Scottish members of cabinet...

Scotland has consistently outperformed what it should do based solely on population make up..

Of course if you like to live in a pretend fantasy world where Scotland is powerless and just gets rode roughshod over by England be my guest, its BS though.

You've obviously never been to New North England formerly known as Scotland.

What because you have poor deprived areas?!

Guess what, England does too...

Even one of the richest nations on Earth, the USA does too...

Scotland gets more spending per head than the rest of the UK, sounds like you're really getting a raw deal.

Sorry to hear that this whole indy debate and result has taken it's toll on you, mate, and am not being funny here,as I know what happens politically, can hurt emotionally.
I supported Ulster independence after Maggie signed the Anglo-Eire dictat in 1985,and am not over the moon about Stormont now, tbh.

The only way to move forward is to compromise, bite the harsh words back, and make a go of each day.

Goodnight folks - home now in Glasgow

The once on a lifetime plebiscite has been decided - make the most of the opportunity to secure more sensible devolution for Scotland <ok >

Whereas in an independent Scotland suddenly everything would be magic and rosy and politicians would start working for the good of the people rather than themselves?!

Saf and Chu

Forgive me for not knowing his name, but that Scottish guy who does Coast on tele made an interesting point,on Newsnight.
He felt that Scot's Nats were basically saying,we do not care about the poor in London,Hull,Cardiff or Belfast, because it was ALL about Scottish people, and therefore a narrow nationalism, rather than the whole UK working together to beat poverty, injustice or inequality.
How can Scotland just become self obsessed, after all our shared history and life experience,in this small corner of NW Europe.

Parochialism gone gaga.

On the other hand Russian trained seals could have stormed the Scottish border towns and Cities on the announcement of independence...

So on balance of the hypotheticals you made the right choice

Just to clarify I meant seals the animals not some kind of specially trained infantry...

We made a choice and that choice was to reject the Scottish identity. Accept and embrace your new Englishness. That's what I have been saying all along.

was ALL about Scottish people,

Well it was ALL about the Scottish people it was a vote about Scotland becoming an independent country ffs.

SAF

I did think you meant special forces/seals.

I don't see how its a rejection of Scottish identity...

It was an acceptance of Britain, which is made up of Scotland, England, Northern Ireland and Wales (as well as some random bits and pieces round the place)

If you feel you have to accept a different identity because of it then its Britishness you should be embracing...

The vote was not about becoming part of England, as much as some of you yessers would like to make it so it simply isn't true.
