Ah yes, Martin O'neil's party spoiling at the first ever McAlpine Stadium game.
This should be a 3 points for Town, because after this game things start getting tougher with tranmere, Sheff utd and MKDons on the near horizon.

No room for Alan Lee after his much heralded performance at Cardiff, unless Novak's injury doesn't clear up.

Town need to start the game brightly, get a couple of goals up and hopefully then take Wycombe on the break 3 or 4 more times...

My Forecast 2-1 Town !

Big game, I would hope after the second half last weekend and a spirited fightback midweek the players spirits would be high, so I'm hoping for a positive attacking performance where we keep the ball away from our defenders for very long periods.

4-0 Town.

Steady on Jacko, big games, Tranmere, M K Dons. If we had have gone up big games would be 10 a penny. If we have the credentials to go up then those are the games we should look to win.

confidence should be very high after the last 2 games. they must now realise they are capable of scoring goals for fun if the just believe it. i think they will on saturday from the off and my prediction is 3-0 town

As far as I'm concerned, we are the big fish in this league now. We need to stop pi££ing about and make teams fear plaing us. The players Clarks purchased should prove they have the quality and go out all guns blazing with no messing about at the back. It's time to
start the season from Saturday.

wethers, only in respect of their current league positions I meant. We should have beaten Bury, rochdale and hartlepool if we aspire to win the league because they are not going to be anywhere near the play-offs at the end of the season, but Tranmere, Sheff Utd and MKD are all play-off candidates in my opinion. let's hope we've found some form by then, but 4 wins from the first 4 games would have meant the mood would be totally different to what it is at the moment.
Even the media are picking up on 'under pressure' Lee Clark having read and heard it on TV and radio recently, and that's with 42 games left to play. ! he's putting himself in a pressure cooker situation by not inspiring the team to play to their true potential..I still reckon that Orient at home could be his last if we aren't up there with the leaders by then. that's the 10th game and we should be on 20 points after that game, according the LC's 2 points a game average target, which means 14 points from the next 6 games...that's 4 wins and 2 draws...which seems highly unlikely to me.

Saturday is a big game for Town, pivotal one might say and a win is an absolute must if the pressure and tension is affecting the players so badly, as LC seems to be saying. Expectations are high, but at the moment it's like the players are struggling to cope with that expectation level...Let's hope the crowd show the same support for the lads as last saturday because that really made a difference.

Weve got to go for it on saturday! Lets give them another 6-0 drubbing!

I wouldnt change the team too much, but the striking department may change if Novak doesnt make it. If Novak isnt in then Big Al it is! Gobern made a case for starting as well as he came on to set up the 3rd of our goals in fine style on tuesday night! I would replace Miller with him.

Then the great centre back pairing debate. Simply, Clarke and Cooper. My team:

Bennett
Hunt - Clarke - Cooper - Naysmith
Ward - Gobern - Robinson - McDermott
Rhodes - Novak (if fit, if not, Big Al)

3-0 Town!!!

Sheff U & in particular M K are looking very good, we need to keep hold of those teams while we wait for our team to jell AGAIN !!

If it's less than 4,000 then it's a slap in the face for Sheffield utd and their pricing policy.

Doubt we would have sold the full mashings anyway and what with our indifferent start and all that.I don't think all this not attending is making some big stand against the "rip off football" because it isn't.If you don't want to pay the £28.50 then thats upto you, your quite within your rights. But if anyone thinks its gonna stop Sheffield United charging Wednesday fans £28.50 or anyone else for that matter, then they are sadly mistaken. For what its worth I agree the £28.50 is a bloody rip off,but it won't stop me going!!!

sheff utd paid average players large sums to fail badly...

they now expect the fans to pay some of that money back, so they can again overpay average footballers to some tune..

thats football, well it will be until it eats itself..

men with no money of their own, larging it by taking over football clubs that they cant afford...they borrow against the club and its assetts...it all goes to sh-t, they walk away..

ten bob millionaires...

being honest , only a stupidly rich person could ever run a football club without the club getting into some sort of debt..people with money to burn, because in reality thats where the stupid wages have taken us..

Not going to Bramhall Lane, 'wouldn't make a difference'.

Imagine it, Against TOWN, & an empty away end.

TOWN have sold 234 tickets TOO many IMO.

14 quid for youngsters for this one.
Come on guys, 'they're' pulling your pants darn.....

Make a stand, DON'T GO.

v Wycombe

I'd say go with the closest line up as possible to the previous 2 games, re-injuries, replace with the substitutions at the time.

Before hand didn't really appreciate the importance of this game, (just another 'make the numbers up' home game) But mention of the expected 2 points per game average by our L.C...........& the upcoming games to come, I see what you mean, without a couple of back to back wins, the proverbial could hit the fan sooner rather than later..

OK. wins are expected & essential (If AutoProMo is to be achieved ) But let's see some clean sheets too.
The half time 'stats' at Cardiff the other night did not make encouraging, optimistic reading... But the next 45 minutes these figures were turned around & TOWN had banged in 3 goals with no reply from the opposition ..all that against a Championship side...
THEN !!!!!!!!!
Well it was straight out of 'Roy of the Rovers'... except 'Roy' wasn't playing for TOWN.

TOWN can do it.
But they have to 'do it' more often.

away teams should..................
"ave the sHUDDERS,
when they come to UDDERZ"

"Set 'em Alight.........
the Black, Blue & White"

It will be a good measure of our progress over the past 2 years. Having hammered Wycombe 6-0 last time they were here, they have been relegated and promoted and here we are again.

So, have we progressed ? Will we win 6-0 again and will that be progress or is it unreasonable to measure progress by such a simple comparison ? Does anything less than 6-0 mean Wycombe have progressed more than Town over the 2 years..that would be a slap in the face for Deano and his massive investment in LC, wouldn't it ?

jacko..

i think any of that would be reading too much into it. football is so unpredictable.
all we are looking for is a comfortable and comprehensive win. by how many goals isnt important. if u get what i mean.

posted on 26/8/11

So if we win 5 .0 it's not progress and you want be too happy unless we win 7 .0
