fekin hell cryer is that you being optimistic
======================
No mate, yhere iz room for improvement, but I doubt we'll improve.
This rubbish has been going on for nigh on 18 months.
Hunt MOTM for me, quickly becoming my favourite player at Town. He is a million miles from been the finished right back but his pace and his engine are truely amazing. I didn't think a player could work harder than Novak but this lad gives it everything.
When we play at home against teams sitting back he is another attacking option. Brilliant Jack, i am so proud he is ours, keep it up lad!
Just got back, and the goals were on ssn, great second goal,I'd would give boom boom the Roberts goal, looked like he got a touch.
Hunt is class waiting to happen , and has he come through the ranks at town or did we get him frm Chesterfield ?
He's one of ours loui, he went on loan to c field last season.
I only listened to the game but took a lot of positives from the commentary, and a couple of other observations;
Hunt continues to work his ar$e off, chasing everything down and giving it his all.
Kay had a good game and overall the back 4 seemed to be more stable. They were also pushing up and sitting on the half way line from what I heard mentioned a couple of times.
Miller was said to be solid and doing a good job of providing a choice for moving the ball forward.
Alan Lee got his first league goals and I am happy for him, maybe now he will get more game time, even if its just as an impact sub. I believe he deserved MOTM, although Hunt and Kay were more involved over the full 90 minutes I think the pat on the back had to be given to Alan to add to the confidence in his ability and make him a more useful player overall. Everyone applauds Hunt whenever he does well so I think he gets his confidence from the crowd more than Alan gets.
Ward and McDermot were coming inside too often and need to stay out on the wings more, if we are going to push up and play in their half then we need to use the space on the wings effectively otherwise we risk choking the ball in middle of the pitch with too many players in the way.
Without Roberts on the pitch there seems to be some disagreement on who should be taking set pieces. This needs sorting, it can create an atmosphere and frustration between the team and the management which we don't need in games.
We need to learn to identify the team that are happy to sit for a draw early on and change to for mistakes from them as they sit back, it didn't seem like we did this at all in the first half.
Overall, I am very pleased with the home win, a convincing home win at that. We need to carry on with performances like that of the second half, but start sooner in the game, with other teams which may come at us more we could end up chasing rather than commanding the game.
A lot of people booed at full time cos we beat them 6 .0 last time , and only won 3.0 this time , it's understandable tho .
How can you boo a 3 nil win!
He's joking Wetherby, I never heard it.
it was pretty obvious that Wycombe set up for a point, they had 10 men behind the ball right up until we scored and never really looked like scoring themselves , they parked the bus and it was working until Lee came on, once he got the goal they had to push forward to try and equalize that opened the game up and we took advantage with 2 more goals .open games suit town better if we can start an open game quickly and get an early goal this division will be ours
Lee thrives of service we always new that if you feed the Lee he will score
Not really much to say. I'll start with the negative...
4-4-2 with Robinson and Miller in the middle offers us no creativity in the middle, and we need to play down the wings more if we play them together. Until we scored we didn't utilise the wings and whenever one winger went wide the other pulled way too narrow. Had their keeper not made a balls up for our first then I highly doubt we would have broken them down.
On to the positive...
Kay had a blinder, McCombe didn't put a foot wromg and Hunt continues to impress. Naysmith did his job defensively but had a nightmare distribution wise. Miller and Robinson were both decent but as mentioned offer nothing going forward. Rhodes impressed me, played the full 90 looking lively, looks stronger and linked up play well. Lee was brilliant when he came on, changed the game for us along with Roberts.
Thank heavens for Alan Lee.
After a 1st half of meaningless pass the parcel, stunning the crowd into bored silence I was hoping we'd be out of the blocks in the 2nd half.
Not to be.
We continued to pass aimlessly backwards and forwards and from side to side, going nowhere and not creating any openings.
The crowd were getting restless, fed up with the tip tap stuff, a few jeers were being heard, boos at the missed pass...you could see the players were getting more and more nervous and frustrated....and then...Alan Lee
Scoring with his 1st touch, from a meaningfull cross into the box, although how it went in I've no idea..
Then , at last we stopped the tippy tappy stuff, Hunt was allowed to get forward, balls were played up front early and the crowd responded. Another cross into the box and it's 2-0..game over.
Why we have to suffer the meaningless passing for an hour is beyond me. Wycombe had 11 men behind the ball, how the flook are you going to pass your way thro' that. It was stupifyingly boring, as it was last season , and what's more is ineffective.
When we use the wingers, or attacking backs, cross the ball into the box, we score goals, quite often.
Maybe for away games we can play the tippy tappy stuff, but not at home, ever again, please.
That's my moan...but in the end LC switched it because the crowd were getting restless ...and that saved us from a 0-0 bore draw.
LC needs to take the reins off these lads, and let them play.
The crowds moans and groans at missed place passes is getting my nerves a bit.Would they prefer it if they just whacked it long and lost possession?Sometimes you need to be a bit patient.Think today we could have done with a early goal but we broke them down in the end.Wish the wingers would stop cutting inside, wish they'd go on the outside more and whip some crosses in.
Did anyone listen to the interview on Radio Leeds following the game? LC was very unhappy with questions about why he wasn't playing a certain formation or certain players, the type of questions you ask a manager. Basically he is unhappy with being asked meaningful questions, he expects supporters and the media to simply have blind faith. Sorry but it isn't a religion, we ask questions as questions are posed by game performances. I can understand him being frustrated with the same questions but he just sounded petulant in his little rant. Come on LC, sort yourself out lad.
Agreed Derby, oggy only asked him how DJ was and he went off on one! Complete t it at times, oggy's job is to ask questions LC's is to answer them in a professional manner.
It was a nothing question answered by a man that seems under pressure.
Perhaps its pressure, although I do remember him having a rant last season although can't remember the specifics of it. Maybe its just his way, but it does give the impression of pressure which can't be good for team morale. Hopefully get a couple of more wins under our belt and the pressure will ease.
Lc went off on one because Oggy had asked him the same question yesterday and tuesday and last saturday
how many time would you want to answer a question you've already answered , he was fine being asked about Peter Clark, but the same question every 3 days i'd get miffed off too
I heard it too, but LC did say when he's up N'castle with the lads in the pub, he'd probably be ringing up radio stations asking the same questions too...the he laughed ! So i think he realised he'd gone over the top a bit.
But mn its part of his job, I have tedious repetitive things to do in my job as probably you do, I always get asked by clients the same questions again and again, but never rip their heads off.
He has issues with oggy, and everyone knows it.
Why do reporters ask questions anyway , how daft is that , I don't blame Clark he don't want to be asked football questions on the radio does he .
